Apple’s New iPad Air Boasts A14 Bionic Chip, Next-Gen Touch ID, and More

Apple is introducing its newest iPad Air, which comes with a 10.9″ all-screen design, A14 Bionic chip, 12MP rear camera, next-generation Touch ID sensor, and more.

Available in five finishes starting Friday, October 23, the new iPad Air has a 10.9″ Liquid Retina display, camera, and audio upgrades. The new integrated Touch ID sensor is located in the top button, and the powerful A14 Bionic provides a boost in performance.

With 3.8 million pixels, the screen features full lamination, P3 wide colour support, True Tone, and an anti-reflective coating. It is compatible with Magic Keyboard, Smart Keyboard Folio, and new Smart Folio covers, as well as Apple Pencil (2nd generation), which attaches magnetically to the side of iPad for easy pairing, charging, and storing.

Along with the A14 Bionic chop, which provides faster and better performance, it also comes equipped with a 7MP front-facing FaceTime HD camera as well as the same 12MP rear camera used in the iPad Pro, allowing for high-resolution image capture as well as 4K videos. It has stereo speakers in landscape mode, a USB-C port for up to 5Gbps data transfer, Wi-Fi 6, and 60% faster LTE connectivity.

The new iPad Air ships with iPadOS 14, which brings new features to the tablet.

The new iPad Air is designed using a 100% recycled aluminum enclosure and 100% recycled tin for the solder on its main logic board. The new speakers also use magnets with 100% recycled rare earth elements. It will be available in Canada starting at $779 for the Wi-Fi only model and starting at $949 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular, with capacities ranging from 64GB up to 256GB. The finish options include silver, space grey, rose gold, green, and sky blue.
