LG’s Wireless Tone Free Earbuds Come With a UVnano Charging case That Kills Bacteria

LG’s new TONE Free true wireless earbuds come with a UVnano charging case that the company says kills bacteria on earbuds, something everyone can appreciate as we continue to work through the COVID-19 pandemic.

As LG’s first pair of true wireless earbuds, they include Meridian audio technology and come with the UVnano charging case that uses ultraviolet light to help rid the part of the earbud that fits closest to your inner ear of 99.9% of bacteria after just a 10-minute charge.

There are two models, the flagship HBS-FN6 and the HBS-FN4. The HBS-FN6 includes the UVnano charging case, which incorporates technology based on a new ultraviolet light test protocol developed by microbiology experts at UL.

Developed with Meridian technology, the earbuds include Headphone Spatial Processing (HSP), powered by Digital Signal Processing (DSP), a technology that Meridian has been perfecting for over 25 years. DSP recreates a realistic soundstage that simulates the experience of listening to real loudspeakers, claims Meridian, and delivers vocals with “pristine clarity.”

Tailor the listening experience with equalizer sound settings (EQ) developed by Meridian. The four settings include Natural for authentic and balanced sound, Immersive for an expanded sense of space, Bass Boost for that extra punch, and Treble Boost for greater vocal performance clarity.

In addition to being able to tune out external noise due to the in-ear design, the TONE Free earbuds also have an Ambient Sound Mode that you can activate with a button to instantly hear what’s going on without having to remove the buds.

In addition to cleaning the buds, the charging case can provide another hour of listening time after just five minutes of charging. When fully charged, they offer up to 18 hours of total playtime through multiple charges.

Both models are rated IPX4 for protection against splashing water, rain, and perspiration while working out. They also feature Voice Command with Google Assistant or Siri on a connected smartphone and offer intuitive touch commands to allow you to play, pause, skip, and control the volume level without reaching for the phone.

Download the LG TONE&Talk app from Google Play or Apple App Store to access the “earbud finder” tool, which will help you locate misplaced or lost earbuds quickly and easily. If they are within Bluetooth range, they will beep so you can follow the sounds. If there is no Bluetooth connection, you will be able to call up their last known location on a map.

The LG TONE Free FN4 are available for an MSRP of $150 and the FN6 for MSRP $200.
