Rogers TV Customers Can Now Get Disney+ For Free

Dying to watch the new season of The Bear tonight? If you’re a Rogers TV customer, you can get the ad-supported version of Disney+ for free, just in time for the third season premiere of the hit FX show.

Which Plans Are Included?

Disney+ is included with select plans, like the Ignite Total TV plan, which is from $160/mo. and includes access to up to 163 channels, from 150Mbps Internet speeds, and the Ignite Entertainment Box rental with 200 hours of cloud storage and recordings kept for up to one year.

Or you can opt for the step-down Ignite Popular TV plan for from $135/mo. for access to up to 117 channels, from 150Mbps speeds, and the box rental with 200 hours of cloud storage. Plan options, however, will vary by area. But all applicable plans will include the Disney+ Standard with Ads plan.

You will see a banner to activate the subscription pop up once you sign in to MyRogers and go to your TV dashboard. From there, activate the subscription using the banner or a link in an e-mail that was sent to customers with qualifying plans.

If you change your Ignite TV plan at any time to one that is not a qualifying plan for this deal, you will lose access to Disney+.

What If You Are Already Subscribed To Disney+?

If you are already subscribed to Disney+, you unfortunately can’t port your existing subscription over. You would have to either cancel your existing subscription, wait for the billing cycle to end, and activate a new one; or create a second Disney+ account using a different e-mail address. If you paid upfront for the year for Disney+, you can wait until close to the renewal date and cancel that, then activate the Disney+ Standard with Ads via Rogers.

Can you Upgrade The Tier?

Rogers says it is working on the option to allow subscribers to pay an upgrade fee to get the Premium tier without ads, but this isn’t yet available.

How Much Does Disney+ Cost On Its Own?

Disney+ on its own costs $14.99/mo. after a price hike that went into effect at the end of 2023. That’s for the Disney+ Premium plan, formerly called the Standard plan.

The Disney+ Standard With Ads plan that will come with a Rogers TV plan is valued at $7.99/mo. and offers up to 1,080p full HD video, two concurrent streams, and up to 5.1 audio. You can’t download content to watch offline with this subscription, but you can stream to two devices at once, including to mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.

Why Disney+?

“We want to deliver more value to our customers and create a more seamless viewing experience,” says Bret Leech, President, Residential Services, Rogers. “By integrating Disney+, we’re adding even more value to our entertainment packages and making it easier than ever for customers to enjoy the shows and movies they love.”

“Rogers is one of our most valued and long-standing Canadian partners,” adds Justin Connolly, President of Platform Distribution, Disney Entertainment. “With the inclusion of our unrivaled Disney+ content as part of Rogers premier TV packages moving forward, we are embracing consumer convenience and meeting them where they are.”

Disney+ is the streaming home for movies and shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic, and more, as well as exclusive original programs, documentaries, live-action and animated series, and short-form content. Along with The Bear, some other popular shows available from Disney+ include new shows like The Acolyte, Only Murders in the Building, and Will Trent, as well as old favourites like The Simpsons, Scrubs, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The X-Files, and more.
