Savant Opts Out of Attending CEDIA 2021 in Person

While the CEDIA Expo conference for custom AV and security integrators and installation specialists is still on track to take place as planned, automation and lighting company Savant has confirmed that it will not have an in-person presence this year.

In a letter to valued partners, CEO and Chairman of the Board Robert Madonna confirms that the decision was made “in order to best protect our employees, our customers and all industry associates from the impact of COVID-19 and the unpredictable Delta variant.

“Savant,” he confirmed, “will not be exhibiting in person at the 2021 CEDIA Expo.”

Instead, Savant will be planning virtual sessions to share its product news and deliver content to help support integrators “during these challenging times.” This includes new products and innovations from GE Lighting, which Savant acquired last year, along with Savant Power through its most recent acquisition of Racepoint Energy. Innovations from these companies, now under Savant’s wings, will be exhibiting virtually together for the first time.

“To our integration partners worldwide,” Madonna concludes, “everyone at Savant is inspired by your fortitude and energy to thrive despite the challenges of a global pandemic. We salute your skill and determination as you serve customers with great care each and every day, and we look forward to meeting you assuming safer conditions early next year as Savant prepares smaller, targeted events for 2022 in Q1.”

A representative from Emerald Expositions confirmed with WiFi HiFi earlier this year that the organization would not require that attendees be vaccinated, though they would require that anyone who has not been vaccinated wear a mask while on the show floor and recommends that even those who have received their first or both doses wear a face mask as well.

As with other spots around the world, Indianapolis, where CEDIA Expo 2021 is set to take place, has reported a surge in COVID-19 numbers due to the new Delta variant. CEDIA Expo 2021 is set to commence on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 and run through to Friday, September 3. Masks will be provided to those who need them, in limited quantities, and temperature checks will be required before entering the convention center.
