Arlo Technologies, Inc. has added a pair of new wire-free security cameras to its Essential Series, the Essential XL Spotlight and Arlo Essential, both of which are compact, easy to install, and feature 1,080p HD video, two-way audio, motion detection alerts, and a built-in siren.
The Arlo Essential XL Spotlight Camera features an integrated, extended-life battery that works for up to one year per charge and an integrated spotlight with colour night vision. The integrated spotlight lets you see what’s lurking in the dark through a bright spotlight that illuminates the area of activity and can be motion activated or manually turned on. With two-way audio, you can hear and speak to visitors clearly. The built-in siren, meanwhile, can be triggered automatically or manually from the app. Motion alerts are sent to your phone when motion is detected. The 130° viewing angle provides a wide field-of-view.
With colour night vision, you can see colour events, and the full high-definition camera captures clear details, as well as video, recorded in 1,080p as well.
The weather-resistant housing is designed to withstand heat, cold, rain, or sun and can be used indoors or outdoors. The camera works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT for easy interaction, automation, and control.
A direct to a Wi-Fi connection enables the Arlo Essential Series wire-free cameras to function as a standalone home security solution without the need for a separate SmartHub or Base Station. If you already have an Arlo security system, you can, however, link the Arlo Essential Series cameras to a compatible Arlo SmartHub (VMB4540, VMB5000) or Base Station (VMB4000, VMB4500) to enable local storage recording and enhance camera range and battery life.
The Arlo Essential Series wire-free camera comes with a three-month trial to Arlo’s AI subscription-based service, Arlo Smart. This includes access to 30-days of rolling 1,080p video recordings to store and view video clips. Notification settings can be adjusted, enabling Arlo Smart subscribers to customize their experience to spot people, vehicles, animals, or packages. Arlo Smart’s e911 feature provides access to emergency services local to the camera’s location for quick action in emergency situations. Controlled through the Arlo app, you can easily view live streams and recordings, adjust the camera settings, and access cloud recordings.
The Arlo Essential XL Spotlight Camera is available for pre-order for an MSRP of US$150 and the Arlo Essential Camera will be available in time for the holiday season for MSRP US$100.
