Blueair CoolDrift Circulator Fan

Blueair Aims to Help You Get to Sleep With the CoolDrift Tabletop Fan with Smart Modes

The new Blueair CoolDrift Air Circulator Fan is a quiet tabletop fan with science-backed smart modes, designed by a wellness expert, that aim to help you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and wake up feeling refreshed.

The fan uses Blueair’s new AeroSilent technology that delivers powerful airflow and wide oscillation with minimal noise that’s as quiet as 15db). It delivers fast, consistent airflow, producing a gentle, natural breeze.

Unlike traditional fans that direct airflow toward the body, CoolDrift gently circulates air throughout the room to help maintain a cool, consistent sleep environment. Research shows that maintaining a bedroom temperature between 68–77°F can help support better sleep, says Blueair, and claims that “even modest increases in nighttime temperature have been linked to losing about 23 minutes of rest.” Designed with this science in mind, Blueair’s Intelligent Night Mode automatically adapts to your room temperature, gradually adjusting fan speed over an eight-hour cycle for optimal comfort.

The first phase is for when you’re preparing to fall asleep. For this hour, the fan starts at a higher speed to help cool the room and support your body’s natural drop in temperature, making it easier to fall asleep. In phase 2, while you are transitioning to deeper sleep, the fan gradually lowers its speed to reduce airflow and noise over the next two-to-four hours, creating a quieter, more restful environment. For the following five-to-eight hours, phase 3 aims to help you stay asleep by the fan running at its lowest, whisper-quiet speed to maintain gentle air circulation. A preset oscillation pattern ensures air is circulated evenly throughout the room without direct airflow on your body. Finally, phase four is to help you wake up feeling refreshed. After eight hours, the program completes. Presumably, those like me who don’t get a full eight hours (I can’t remember the last time I did!), you can manually turn off the fan before the cycle ends.

You can do this using the Blueair app, which allows you to customize preferences, including fan speed, auto and night modes, and custom oscillation. For daytime use, Auto Mode mimics the feel of a natural breeze and adjusts across three levels. So, you might want to move it to your home office, for example.

CoolDrift also features a zero-glow display that automatically dims after 15 seconds of inactivity and can be tapped to wake. The wide automatic 3D air circulation maintains a consistent, comfortable room temperature throughout the night with automatic x120° horizontal oscillation and 90° vertical oscillation.

The Blueair CoolDrift Air Circulator Fan is available for US$140 and comes in Cloud Linen, Arctic Sage, and Night Charcoal.
