Josh.ai, an AI provider for the custom channel, is demonstrating its new ProStudio tools for professional installation at the show.
ProStudio introduces a new automations builder with AI-generated programming, Nimble DevSuite+ for advanced device integration and interoperability, and the redesigned Josh.ai help centre with streamlined access to technical resources and training.
The platform reduces programming time from hours to minutes, says the company, enabling more customization without additional labour. Automations bring generative AI directly to the programming workflow, translating an integrator’s intent into sophisticated custom home programming.
Rather than manually building personalized scenes, conditional logic, triggers, schedules, device adjustments, and whole-home activations, installers can simply describe what a client wants their home to do. For example, they might want to open the shades each morning only when it’s sunny, adjust lights differently based on occupancy and time of day, or orchestrate multiple devices across the property for a nighttime routine.
For dealers, AI is now capable of programming systems intelligently on behalf of the installer. Josh.ai empowers more members of a dealership’s team to confidently contribute and successfully configure systems. This, says Josh.ai, frees up time for experienced programmers to focus on an installation’s most complex needs.
For clients, the increased programming efficiency makes deeper personalization practical. Dealers can spend more time creating the custom scenes, activations, and finishing touches.
Automations is being announced and exclusively previewed at CEDIA Expo, with availability planned for later this year.
Meanwhile, Nimble DevSuite was introduced in 2024 and the Nimble DevSuite+ update, which will be released in stages later this year, offers expanded protocol flexibility and the ability for integrators to program device drivers as needed for an individual client’s needs.
Josh.ai is launching meta drivers in Nimble DevSuite+. Starting with Home Assistant, Apple HomeKit, and Matter, meta drivers will power connectivity across a range of thousands of smart home products. By leveraging established and vetted protocols, professional installers can deliver more scalable Josh.ai systems that flexibly integrate across a wide range of lighting, climate, entertainment, security, and more devices.
Further expanding the flexibility of the platform, Nimble DevSuite+ is enabling advanced integrators to develop and program their own custom device drivers for unique client needs. While these independently created drivers will need to be hosted on an additional hardware module and will not be officially supported nor certified by Josh.ai, the capability provides greater freedom to deliver specialized, one-off solutions for projects involving unsupported devices.
Nimble DevSuite+ also introduces support for the new Josh.ai I/O Box by Global Caché. Designed specifically for professional installers, Global Caché’s Global Connect platform extends the reach of Josh.ai systems with support for infrared (IR), serial communication (RS232 and RS485), relay control, and sensor inputs. The Josh.ai I/O Box will be available exclusively in the Josh.ai dealer store later this year.
Additionally, Josh.ai will announce new partnership updates and integrations at CEDIA Expo, all available now or coming later this year at no additional charge: AudioControl (Hyperion amplifiers and processors), Autonomic (MA4 & MA6 streaming amplifiers, M-6250 matrix amplifier), Ashly (amplifiers), AVPro (Dante amplifiers), Bang & Olufsen (amplifiers) BluOS (VoiceCast, making BluOS the first Josh.ai partner to develop and implement Voicecast natively on its products, enabling voice responses to be broadcast across a whole-home’s distributed audio system), Cameras (enhanced boot up speed and streaming quality), CoolAutomation (BACNet nad Modbus HVAC, CoolAutomation’s devices now communicate directly with HVAC systems and thermostats over BACnet or Modbus, natively integrating single climate zones for control within the Josh.ai platform), Dali (amplifiers), Monitor Audio (amplifiers), MotorRyse (shades), Nexus 21 (TV lifts), Schlage (Sense Pro locks), and Sonos (Amp Multi).
To round out the delivery of ProStudio, Josh.ai’s redesigned Help Center has been tailored to be the primary resource for dealers to deploy and support systems. ProStudio integrates AI and collaborative support tools, reducing the time integrators spend searching for information while improving installation efficiency and technical confidence.
AI-powered search helps installers pinpoint the right articles, setup guides, troubleshooting steps, and technical resources faster through natural language questions and contextual results. Additional updates include notifications for release notes, the ability to follow specific topics, feedback tools to vote or comment on articles, and direct support ticket submission within the platform.
Josh.ai has also updated its training curriculum with expanded educational content and more practical learning paths for technical certification, sales enablement, and system design.
