Scosche is known for its mobile accessories and peripherals, and the company has announced a new subsidiary called PreEvnt, which will focus exclusively on health tech. The first product under the new brand is the isaac, a non-invasive alert device and app for monitoring blood glucose, which will be on display at CES 2025.
isaac by PreEvnt is non-invasive because it only uses your breath to monitor an individual’s blood glucose levels. This helps reduce the need for frequent finger pricks, and it’s suitable for those with Type-1 and Type-2 diabetics, as well as pre-diabetics or anyone who wants to monitor their blood glucose levels.

isaac uses VOC detection, specifically acetone, from exhaled breath to determine and alert the user to elevated blood glucose levels. Instead of pricking a finger, simply breath into the device. This method is similar to service dogs who are trained to sniff and sort through approximately 2,000 VOCs to determine a high blood glucose event in their owner. The isaac device is easily worn to places where a dog, or finger prick/blood testing kit, could otherwise be inconvenient.
Supported by five years of research in collaboration with Indiana University under the direction of Dr. M. Agarwal of Indiana University, isaac by PreEvnt leverages patented selective gas sensing MOx technology by Nanoz. This scientific foundation ensures accurate and reliable monitoring, providing users with valuable insights for personalized metabolic health management.
“By identifying and analyzing the Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in breath, we can develop sensors that provide early and accurate detection of glycemic conditions,” says Dr. Agarwal. “This technology mimics the capabilities of diabetes alert dogs, offering a non-invasive and reliable monitoring solution.”

Small enough to be worn on the included lanyard or pocket clip, it provides real-time readings of blood glucose levels, enabling users to make informed decisions about their diet and exercise.
There’s a reason that the device is called the isaac: the product was inspired by a boy named Isaac, the grandson of its inventor Bud Wilcox, who was diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes at age two. Wilcox wanted to find a better way for his grandson to be alerted to blood sugar events while reducing the number of finger prick blood tests he had to do each day.
“Our goal with isaac is to provide a non-invasive way to monitor glucose levels in real-time, giving diabetics and their caregivers the ability to take timely action and prevent severe complications,” says Wilcox.
The isaac works alongside the iOS and Android phone app that keeps track of measurements and even allows you to share blood glucose level reports with family members or physicians. It provides real-time alerts if blood glucose level is rising and can even provide customizable notifications.

isaac by PreEvent is rechargeable and comes with its own USB-C charging cable and cradle. One charge typically lasts all day and for multiple breath tests.
The device is currently undergoing continued development and FDA review and is not for sale in the U.S. at this time.
