CES 2026: Sandisk Rebrands its WD SSDs as Optimus

At CES 2026 last week, Sandisk announced that it would be rebranding its NVMe SSD portfolio to now fall under the new Optimus name. The line of internal storage solutions for gamers, creators, and professionals now includes the Sandik Optimus, Optimus GX, and Optimus GX Pro.

Reflecting the rebranding is new packaging and product design, though internally, the products remain the same. But the idea is to help customers determine the performance tier that meets their needs. The SanDisk Optimus line, formerly WD Blue, is designed for content creators, offering speed and affordability.

The Optimus GX line, formerly WD Black, is for gamers, offering fast load times, expanded capacity, and greater power efficiency.

At the top of the line is the Optimus GX Pro, formerly WD Black as well, these are for developers, professionals, and gamers who are building AI PCs, workstations, and high-end PCs.

Products featuring the updated branding will reach select retailers worldwide in the first half of 2026.
