Denon has released new models in its X-Series AV receiver line, the AVR-X2900H and AVR-X3900H, intended for users seeking increased power, precision, greater system configuration and advanced calibration features in their home theatre systems.
While the AVR-S980H is made to be accessible for general home theatre use, the new X-Series AVRs are focused on offering more detailed adjustments and scalable options..
“Denon’s X-Series has always prioritized performance,” said Lyle Smith , President of Sound United at HARMAN. “With the latest additions, we have included expanded room calibration features and adaptable designs to provide improved audio quality and flexibility for people who value sound accuracy.”

Both new models emphasize audio quality, using updated internal components and 32-bit multi-channel DAC architecture for improved imaging, clearer high frequency detail, and stronger low frequency output across all channels.
Each receiver is developed and tuned at Denon’s Shirakawa Audio Works in Japan, guided by Denon’s Sound Master. The goal is to provide an open and engaging experience for movies, music, and games.
Denon X-Series AVRs support both Audyssey for straightforward setup and balanced sound and Dirac Live for users seeking more advanced tuning as their systems become more complex. This approach provides users with options to adjust their sound according to their needs, whether prioritising ease of use or technical control.

The AVR-X2900H is intended for users looking for improved performance and control over entry-level AV receivers. The AVR-X2900H provides 95 watts per channel over seven channels, supporting surround formats, HDMI features, and gaming standards and suitable for movies, games, and music.

Denon AVR-X3900H

The AVR-X3900H is designed for home theatre systems where control, scalability, and precision are required. It features 9.4 channels of amplification, 11.4 channels of processing, and delivers 105 watts per channel. Four independent subwoofer outputs and expanded configuration options provide more control over bass performance.
The AVR-X3900H supports optional upgrades for Dirac Live Room Correction, Bass Control, and Active Room Treatment (ART). Audyssey is also included for standard calibration.

Both receivers offer IP-based Web UI setup, HDMI diagnostics, and expanded control interfaces for efficient installation and system management, providing stable performance for contemporary home entertainment setups.
Both AVRs feature HEOS multiroom audio, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, and access to music services including TuneIn Internet Radio, Spotify, and Qobuz. Users can stream music throughout their home and play different sources in different spaces using the HEOS app.
The AVR-X2900H and AVR-X3900H will support Denon Home 200, 400, and 600 speakers as wireless rear surrounds, providing options for rooms where running speaker wire is not feasible. Wireless surround functionality will be available in a future firmware update, with more information to be provided later.
The X-Series AVRs are intended to remain central to a system as technology and user habits change. Features such as expanded HDMI connectivity, 1440p pass-through, AMD FreeSync compatibility, and scalable speaker layouts are included for ongoing expansion.
