IFA 2024: Acer Debuts Laptops, Gaming Handheld & More

Acer has introduced an entire new line of laptops along with monitors, tablets, and more, all of which are on display at IFA 2024, which is currently taking place in Berlin. Here’s a rundown of the new models and their basic specs and features.

Swift 14 AI Laptop

This new AI laptop comes with an Intel Core Ultra 7 (Series 2) processor (up to 258V), Intel Arc graphics, and 48 TOPS NPU AI performance. It can run for up 29 hours per charge and comes housed in a slim 2.78-pound chassis. This line has 3K or 2K OLED as well as 2K IPS touchscreen options. It will be available this month starting at $1,700 in Canada.

There’s also a variant powered by an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 with up to 50 TOPS NPU performance and supported by powerful AMD Radeon 880M graphics. It has a 14-inch 3K 120Hz OLED or WQXGA (2,880 x 1,800) touch display, all day battery life of up to 27 hours, and slim 2.95-lb. build. It sells for the same price.  

Swift 16 AI Laptop

With a larger 16-inch display, this 3K OLED laptop is powered by a new Intel Core Ultra 9 (Series 2) 288V processor and comes with Intel Arc graphics and 48 TOPS NPU AI performance. At just 3.3 lbs., it’s ultra-lightweight, too. It will be available starting in October for $1,700.

Acer is also expanding its Swift family with two additional models, one powered by AMD Ryzen AI processor and one by a new Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus processor. 

Swift Go 14 AI Laptop

For a more mobile experience, there’s the Swift Go 14 AI laptop, which is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus. The X1P-42-100 processor delivers up to 28 hours of battery life and supports fast charging. It has a 14.5-inch WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) IPS display in a slim 2.91-lbs chassis. It starts at just $1,200.

All four models include Microsoft Copilot+ support, Acer AI-enhanced features such as Acer User Sensing technology for security, and Windows Studio Effects, PurifiedVoice 2.0 and PurifiedView for better conferencing. There’s also ample storage and RAM, along with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and a range of ports.

The Predator Orion 7000 includes the latest processing technology powered by Intel next gen processors and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU (1321 AI TOPS). With three months of PC Game Pass included, you can enjoy hundreds of high-quality PC games. It also features the patented Predator CycloneX 360 system fan and a CPU liquid cooler to keep the device cool. This pairing boosts the desktop’s cooling efficiency by 15% while lowering motherboard temperatures by nine degrees Celsius compared to the previous model.Pricing will be shared at launch with timing TBD. 

Nitro V Gaming Laptops

The new Nitro V 14 is a stylish gaming laptop that balances gaming performance, portability, and affordability. With a pearl-like finish and teal lighting, it’s powered by an up to an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processor, up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU (194 AI TOPS), up to 32 GB DDR5 memory, and up to a 2 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD. It will be available in North America in September, with a starting price of $1,600 in Canada.

Nitro V 16 Gaming Laptop

The newest Nitro V 16 gaming laptop is purpose-built for students, entry-level gamers, and multimedia enthusiasts. Delivering high pixel density of up to a 180 Hz 16-inch (16:10) WQXGA (2,500 x 1,600) display, it is ideal for photo editing, colour grading tasks, gaming, and other fast-paced content. Configured with up to an Intel Core i7-14650HX processor, up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU, up to 32 GB of memory, and up to a 2 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD, it will be available in North America in October, starting at $1,800.

Acer Nitro Blaze 7 (pricing and availability TBA) delivers fast and smooth gameplay, powered by AMD Ryzen 8040 Series processors with up to 39 total AI TOPS, up to 2 TB of storage, and 16 GB LPDDR5x memory. It offers immersive and stutter-free visuals on a Full HD, 144 Hz refresh rate IPS touch panel, paired with AMD Radeon 780M Graphics, Radeon Super Resolution, and AMD FreeSync Premium technology. The customized Acer Game Space app integrates mainstream gaming platforms on the Windows 11-powered handheld. Its compact and lightweight design allows for portable gaming anywhere and ensures fast connections with Wi-Fi 6E support. 

Project DualPlay Gaming Laptop

The design of this laptop features a large touchpad that doubles as a built-in detachable wireless controller and two high-fidelity, five-watt pop-out speakers that emerge from the sides of the laptop. For multiplayer enthusiasts, it allows another player to jump in on the action; the detachable controller can be separated into two joysticks that are perfect for head-to-head combat. This feature also provides the flexibility to switch seamlessly between keyboard and controller gaming, and to adapt to different playing styles and game genres. 

Predator Gaming Monitors

 There are two new 27-inch models, the Predator XB273U F5 and Predator XB273K V5. The Predator XB273U F5 has WQHD (2, 560×1,440) resolution and a fast refresh rate of 360 Hz. It’s equipped with NVIDIA’s new G-SYNC Pulsar technology that delivers a significant breakthrough with four times more motion clarity together with smooth and tear-free variable refresh rate gaming. Pricing will be shared at launch with timing TBD. 

The Predator XB273K V5 is a 4K (3840 x 2160) monitor with a smooth 160 Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium technology support. Gamers can also choose a higher refresh rate option with a FHD resolution at 320 Hz based on the demands of the game and task at hand. Available in North America in Q4, it’s $700.

Nitro Gaming Monitors

Acer’s three new Acer Nitro gaming monitors deliver high-definition resolution with blazing refresh rates of up to 600 Hz. The 24-inch Nitro XV240 F6 is a FHD-resolution monitor with 600 Hz refresh rate and up to a 0.1 ms G-to-G response time, making it among the fastest gaming displays currently available. Available in North America in Q1 2025, it’s priced at  $850 for the Canadian market.

The 27-inch Nitro XV270 F5 features a FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS panel with a 520 Hz refresh rate, and a response time of 0.5 ms G-to-G. Available in North America in Q1 2025, it will also be $850.

Finally, there’s the 27-inch Nitro XV270U F5 (Q1 2025; $1,100) that boasts a 27-inch WQHD (2,560 x 1,440) IPS display, 500 Hz refresh rate, and up to 0.5 ms G-to-G response time.

Smart Monitors

Acer’s two new smart monitors come with webOS built in. The 31.5-inch Acer CS322QK smart monitor (Q4, $850) is great for those working from home or who want to enjoy streaming content. This 4K UHD IPS monitor with a 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour range, HDR10 video standard, and 350 nits brightness provides immersive and visual experiences for individual or family-sized viewing.

The 27-inch Nitro GS272U M smart monitor (Q1 2025, $500) combines WQHD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution and up to a 180 Hz refresh rate.

TravelMate P6 14 AI Commercial Laptop

For the business space, there’s the Acer TravelMate P6 14 AI, a Copilot+ PC that’s under 1 kg. This Windows 11 Pro PC is powered by Intel Core Ultra processors (Series 2) with a built-in NPU boasting up to 120 total platform TOPS AI performance in a compact, carbon fiber chassis. It’s equipped with a 14-inch WQXGA+ (2,880 x 1,800) 16:10 display with IPS technology or WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) panel featuring high 400 nit brightness and a 100% sRGB colour gamut. Thin bezels and a high 82% screen-to-body ratio maximize the screen area. It’s ideal for on-the-go executives and mobile professionals, says Acer, thanks to the long battery life, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and MIL-STD 810H durability certification. Available in North America in January 2025, pricing starts at US$1,500. 

Iconia X12 Tablet

Acer is also introducing a new tablet in the Iconia Z12, an Android tablet with a 12.6-inch 2.5K AMOLED display at 60 Hz and 400 nits brightness that’s paired with quad stereo speakers. Powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor and WiFi 5, it provides smooth streaming and a reliable connection. It also comes with a stylus, portfolio case with stylus slot, and a detachable Bluetooth keyboard with trackpad. Available in North America in January 2025, the starting price in Canada is $499.
