Legrand has announced its new Kitchen Countertop Outlet, which delivers a code-compliant solution for modern kitchen islands and peninsulas.
Developed in response to 2023 NEC Section 210.52(C)(3) updates, which prohibit outlets on the sides of kitchen islands, this innovative device brings power directly to the surface without compromising design or install efficiency. (Note that we use the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) in Canada. The Canadian code has not yet been impacted but voting has started on this update).
Engineered for fast installs, durability, and seamless aesthetics, the Kitchen Countertop Outlet features a surface-mounted profile that takes up 40% less space than traditional pop-up models. It also includes a simplified connection system with UL 498 certification for safety and performance. It delivers high-performance power access for residential and hospitality spaces, and is ideal for contractors, builders, electricians, and designers navigating evolving code standards.

Along with being NEC 2023 code-compliant, meeting new U.S. requirements for power on kitchen islands and peninsulas, the outlet is also UL 498 rated, passing a UL half-gallon spill test and tested to 2000V dielectric strength. It installs via a 90-degree snap-in connector and hand-turn nut that allow for simple installation above and below a counter. The surface-mount design resists corrosion and integrates cleanly with countertops.
It’s also tamper-resistant with built-in shutters that protect against object insertion, ideal for family-safe kitchens. The small diameter and depth reduces visual and physical impact and creates more usable space under the counter.
It comes in matte black or white with cast-metal lids available in Black, White, Stainless Steel, and Champagne Bronze. It’s designed to be installed with or without a lid, and ideal for new builds, renovations, and retrofits in single-family homes, multi-dwelling units (MDUs), hospitality spaces like bars, cafes, and hotel lounges, and commercial settings, like office break areas and waiting rooms.
