Google is integrating AI into pretty much every product it offers, and that includes the new Pixel Buds Pro 2 wireless earbuds. For the first time, they come with Google’s custom-designed Tensor A1 chip, which powers not only improved audio performance and noise cancellation, but also Google AI.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 are 24% lighter and 27% smaller than Pixel Buds Pro. Google says it analyzed 45 million ear scans and conducted real-life wear tests to design Pixel Buds Pro 2 to be comfortable and secure fitting. With the new twist-to-adjust stabilizer, the earbuds stay put while still being comfortable to wear. They also come with four different sized eartips.
Noise cancellation is twice as strong with Tensor A1, offering ultra-low-latency audio processing, adapting to your environment up to three million times per second. This provides Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that’s twice as strong as the previous generation earbuds. The buds also cancel a wider variety of noises, from the sounds of traffic to surrounding conversations in coffee shops.
With Tensor A1’s multipath processing, there’s a dedicated “highway lane” for your music, completely independent of the continuous processing that’s happening for ANC. This helps resule in accurate, detailed, and immersive sound.
Tensor A1 also affords better battery life, despite the smaller and lighter design. When ANC is enabled, you get up to eight hours of battery life on the Buds and 30 hours with the case. Charge them in the case for 15 minutes for up to three hours of extra battery life.
What about Gemini? You can enjoy a hands-free virtual AI assistant from the buds, even when the phone is locked and in your pocket. With Gemini Live, Pixel Buds Pro 2 provides a mobile conversational experience that uses speech technology to let you have extended conversations with Gemini. Get new ideas or even practice for an upcoming interview. You can even use Gemini Live while on the go by unlocking your phone while wearing the Buds or saying “Hey, Google, let’s talk live.”
Additional features include the new Find My Device Network for when you misplace the buds with a ringing speaker from the case, Clear Calling, Conversation Detection to automatically disable noise cancellation when you speak aloud, and Spatial Audio with Head Tracking.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 come in Porcelain, Hazel, Peony, and Wintergreen and are on pre-order now. They will be available in Canada starting September 26 for $299.
