McIntosh Launches Luxury MX200 AV Processor

McIntosh Laboratory, Inc. has launched the MX200 AV processor, which offers up to 11.2 channels of signal processing and can adapt to various home theatre configurations from 5.1 up to 7.2.4 surround sound arrangements.

Designed to cater to both DIY enthusiasts and seasoned professional integrators as part of a custom install project, the MX200 boasts a sleek, streamlined design. Watch 8K, 4K, or HD content from streaming services or watch Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD discs with support for immersive audio formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. It’s also compatible with a variety of McIntosh home theatre amplifiers and surround sound speakers for customizing your system.

It comes with a variety of analog and digital inputs and outputs, including four HDMI inputs and one HDMI output that supports 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz video (when used with an ultra-high-speed HDMI cable) and is compatible with HDCP 2.3; High Dynamic Range (HDR) formats Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HLG; 4:4:4 colour spacing; Rec. 2020; and 3D video pass-through. The HDMI output features enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) functionality for use with a compatible TV. Digital audio inputs include two coax and two optical to connect additional audio devices like a CD player, tuner, or music streamer.

Seven premium 32-bit Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs) provide audiophile grade processing. Analog audio inputs include a Moving Magnet phono input to connect a turntable, along with a pair of balanced and unbalanced auxiliary inputs to connect other audio devices. To connect to home theatre amplifier(s), the MX200 has 11 discrete balanced outputs and two discrete unbalanced subwoofer outputs. Bass and Treble tone controls can help finetune audio.

The MX200 comes with Dirac Live Room Correction Full Bandwidth and its corresponding license, delivering advanced room adjustment and correction. An advanced room acoustic solution, Dirac Live enables you to optimize their sound systems and reduce unwanted effects introduced by the room.

It boasts room correction with time domain correction by means of patented mixed-phase filter technology. There’s an easy-to-use user interface and step-by-step guidance that allows for quick setup and personalization.

With an aluminum and glass front panel along with rotary control knobs, it comes with compact 2U rack size and rack mounting brackets. The AV processor can also be seamlessly integrated into an AV equipment rack as a part of a custom installation home theatre project. Pre-configuration opportunities with integrators allow them to simply load the file at installation. Backup options via computer or USB stick provide the freedom for users or integrators to experiment with different configuration file settings

It’s operational via a remote control or home automation system integration via RS232 control protocol and has received Control4 Certification and Works with Crestron Home Certification.

The McIntosh MX200 is available now through authorized McIntosh dealers for an MSRP of $8,400 in Canada.
