Microsoft has introduced two new Copilot+ PCs: the Surface Laptop 13-inch and the Surface Pro 12-inch. Both are ultra-thin, lightweight, and are offered at lower price points. There’s also a new agent in settings and new Copilot+ PC experiences coming that will first roll out to Windows Insiders.
The new computers are fast, responsive, boast long battery life, and are built to be secure.They also unlock new AI experiences, all of which run locally thanks to the Neural Processing Unit. Both new Surface Copilot+ PCs are powered by Snapdragon X Plus processors.
Surface Laptop, 13-inch

The Surface Laptop 13-inch will be available starting May 20, 2025 for a starting price of US$899. Dubbed Microsoft’s thinnest and lightest Surface laptop to date, it comes housed in a premium anodized aluminum chassis and in three colour options, Ocean, Violet and Platinum. The best-selling Surface Arc Mouse is now also available in matching Ocean and Violet finishes, sold separately.
Along with the Snapdragon X Plus processor, the computer includes an integrated 45 TOPS NPU, making it 50% faster than Surface Laptop 5. It also delivers the longest battery life of any Surface, with up to 23 hours of video playback and up to 16 hours of active web browsing. It also uses universal USB-C for fast charging.
Equipped with a 13-inch full HD touchscreen display, the built-in AI-enhanced camera has Auto Video HDR and AI noise reduction. Typing is quiet and comfortable. The keyboard includes a fingerprint reader built into the power button for secure sign-in, along with, of course, a new Copilot key for accessing AI features. There’s also a a customizable precision touchpad featuring adaptive touch mode.
The new Surface Laptop contains 100% recycled cobalt in the battery cell and 100% recycled rare earth metals in the magnets. Many components can be replaced by authorized service providers or skilled technicians, supporting a more repairable, circular approach to device design.
Surface Pro, 12-inch

Meanwhile, the new Surface Pro, 12-inch is the thinnest and lightest Copilot+ PC to date, and will be available May 20, 2025 starting at US$799. It maintains a 2-in-1 form factor with a built-in adjustable kickstand and detachable keyboard. Surface Slim Pen now magnetically attaches to the back of the tablet for charging and secure storage.
Also powered by the Snapdragon X Plus processor with an integrated and powerful 45 TOPS NPU, this new Surface Pro is fast and smooth with all-day battery life, delivered in a 1.5 pound package that can fit in your small bag.

The new Surface Pro 12-inch keyboard attaches easily to the device and lies flat for a quiet typing experience. It features a smooth-matte palm rest for comfort and durability, a full-size backlit keyset, and customizable precision touchpad with adaptive touch mode. The new keyboard now folds back completely flat against the Surface Pro, so you can sketch or write comfortably. It has dedicated keys like the Copilot key and lock key. The Surface Pro 12-inch keyboard comes in Slate, Ocean, and Violet.
The Surface Pro contains 82.9% recycled content in the enclosure and is the first Pro to contain 100% recycled cobalt in the battery cell. Pro is also designed to help reduce e-waste with many components designed to be replaced by skilled technicians or authorized service providers.
New AI Experiences

The new Copilot PCs also boast many exciting AI experiences.
Recall (preview) is an opt-in experience that transforms how you search for and rediscover content on your PC. You can retrace your steps in seconds to quickly and securely find and get back to an app, website, image or document.
You can describe in your own words what you are looking for, and improved Windows search will comb through images and documents to find it for you, whether you’re in File Explorer, the Windows Search box or Settings.
With Click to Do (preview), you can identify text and images on your screen and take actions that take advantage of local and web-based AI models to be more productive while staying in your flow.
Upcoming AI Experiences

These new AI features will first be available to Windows Insiders before expanding more broadly
The new agent in Settings will allow you to describe an issue in your own words and get recommendations on how to address it. With your permission, it can even complete the actions on your behalf.
You will be able to bring pro-grade lighting effects to pictures on your Copilot+ PC with Photos Relight.
Moises Live by Music.AI affords real-time audio separation and control, such as isolating the volumes of percussion, vocals, and other elements, enhancing the music learning and practicing experience. The experience is 35 times faster on the Snapdragon X NPU compared to the CPU.
Gigapixel AI by Topaz Labs allows you to enlarge and enhance images up to 16 times their original size while maintaining high quality and detail.
Availability for Business Customers
Additionally, Microsoft confirms that the new Surface Laptop, 13-inch, and Surface Pro, 12-inch will join the Surface for Business Copilot+ PC family, starting July 22 in select markets. Designed for mobile and hybrid teams, they feature Windows 11 Pro, anti-reflective displays, NFC reader (on Pro), and other security and management features tailored for business customers.
