Microsoft Copilot Mode in Edge

Microsoft Launches Copilot Mode in Edge

Microsoft has launched Copilot Mode in Edge, a new opt-in experimental mode that contains a variety of new AI features.

Open a new tab in Edge with Copilot Mode on and you’ll see a cleaner, more streamlined page with a single input box. It’s designed to understand your intent and help you get started more quickly.

Microsoft Copilot Mode includes features like multi-tab context that, with user permission, grants Copilot the ability to see all open tabs in the browser, allowing for better comparisons, faster decisions, and minimal toggling. There’s also natural voice navigation so you can speak directly to Copilot about what you’re trying to do online. With Copilot Mode in the New Tab page, you get Copilot chat, search, and web navigation in one easy-to-use input box.

There are additional capabilities coming soon, including the ability for Copilot to take more advanced actions. There will be an option to give Copilot permission to access additional browser context, like your history and credentials to be able to perform tasks like booking reservations or managing errands.

Copilot will also be able to remember your tasks, and organize your browsing into helpful, topic-based journeys. These might includes suggestions for what to do next, like how to build a website if you are researching starting your own business.

Copilot displays in a dynamic pane while the original page remains visible. It will only access browsing content when you enable it, and provides clear visual cues while assisting in the background. Microsoft only collects the data necessary to improve the experience and that you choose to provide in personalization settings. You can turn the experience on and off as desired in the Edge settings.

Microsoft Copilot Mode in Edge is now accessible at aka.ms/copilot-mode. Once opted-in, you can enable Copilot Mode directly from your Edge settings with one simple toggle and can flip back to the classic experience in your browser settings at any time.

It will be available for free for a limited time in all Copilot markets, exclusively on Edge for Windows and Mac. There will be usage limits on some features. More capabilities will roll out over the coming weeks.
