At Samsung Galaxy Unpacked, the company revealed its latest foldables, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, its thinnest and lightest foldable yet, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 as well as the new Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic, both of which integrate Galaxy AI and Gemini right from your wrist. Here’s everything you need to know.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 foldable phone is the thinnest and lightest yet in the line-up, folding up to 9mm thin, unfolding to just 4.2mm, and weighing just 215 grams. It comes with an 8-inch 2,184 x 1,968 QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen and 5-inch 2,520 x 1,080 HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x cover screen that has a wider display at a 21:9 aspect ratio. The cover display is made from Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 to protect it against cracks while the inner display boasts Vision Booster and up to 2,600 nits peak brightness.
Finished in Silver Shadow, Blue Shadow, or Jetblack (as well Mint as an online exclusive colour), it’s powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy with 12GB RAM and comes with 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB non-expandable storage. It has a thinner and lighter Armor FlexHinge with a multi-rail structure that has been re-engineered to better disperse stress and protect the integrity of the display and reduce visible creasing.
Equipped with the same 4,400mAh battery as its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, it also affords the same charging speeds at 25W wired, 15W wireless, and Wireless PowerShare.
Boasting Galaxy AI with One UI 8, the AI experience has been optimized for the larger screen. New features include the ability to instantly share your large screen with Gemini Live. You can use natural voice commands to get context-based answers and leverage other Samsung Vision AI features. Drag and drop AI content from multiple windows and use features like Circle to Search while playing games. To access Gemini, simply tap and hold the side button.
You get a 200MP wide camera, the first in a Galaxy Z series phones, along with a 12MP ultra-wide, and 10MP telephoto lens on the rear and a 10MP main screen and 10MP cover camera. Some enhanced camera features include the ability for the phone to automatically detect distractions in photos and remove them, and side-by-side editing for a real-time comparison as you edit. There are improvements for video capture as well, including Night Video that can intelligently detect motion and separate moving subjects from still backgrounds to help reduce noise.
The phone maintains the same IP48 water and dust resistance rating and comes with a side capacitive fingerprint scanner and facial recognition.
It is now available for pre-order starting at $2,500 and will officially be on sale starting July 25, 2025.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes in Blue Shadow, Jetblack, or Coralred. It has a 6.9-inch 2,520 x 1,080 FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x main screen and an edge-to-edge 4.1-inch 948 x 1,048 Super AMOLED FlexWindow on the front. The FlexWindow is made from Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and, for the first time, you can access Gemini Live right from the window. This includes doing things like pointing the camera at an time to get real-time help.
You can also access a personalized Now Bar and Now Brief on the FlexWindow along with things like quick messages, schedule updates, and selfies at-a-glance. Both screens boast 2,600 nits peak brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate while the FlexWindow gets an upgrade via Vision Booster for enhanced outdoor visibility.
It comes equipped with an Armour FlexHinge that is thinner than the previous generation model with a restructured design for smoother folds. This is complemented by an Armor Aluminum frame.
It runs on a Samsung Exynos 2500 processor with 12GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB non-expandable storage and is powered by Android 16 with One UI 8. The 4,300mAh battery is larger than the previous generation Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, but it charges at the same wired rate of 25W and a slower 10W wireless rate. It, too, comes with Wireless PowerShare capabilities.
Snap photos using the 50MP wide main camera, 12MP ultra-wide, and 10MP front camera. Enjoy enhanced Nightography shooting, 10-bit HDR, real-time filters, and a new zoom slider for swiping to quickly zoom in and out. Dual Preview allows you and the subject to see the composition live on the FlexWindow so you get the perfect shot.
The phone meets the IP48 specification and comes with a side fingerprint scanner and facial recognition.
Pricing starts at $1,463 with pre-orders on now and official availability starting July 25, 2025. There are trade-in offers with both phones, including up to $1,100 in credit when upgrading from a participating Galaxy Z series phone. Those who pre-order can also receive 30% off an eligible Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic, Watch Ultra, Buds3, or Buds3 Pro.
Samsung Galaxy Watch8, Watch8 Classic
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 (starts at $500) is powered by Wear OS 6 and comes with new features like a personal AI assistant that helps provide answers, keep you on schedule, and help in any way needed using Galaxy AI and Gemini, right from your wrist. You can do things like say “start a 30-minute run” or “find a nearby café and text Joe to meet me there.”
As the thinnest and purportedly most comfortable Galaxy Watch in the line to date, it has a 50% brighter display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits for easy visibility outdoors in direct sunlight. It also now includes dual frequency GPS and a more powerful processor with greater power efficiency. The BioActive Sensor affords deeper and more accurate health insights, says Samsung.
There’s also advanced sleep coaching and advanced health tracking with features like Sleep Apnea detection, circadian rhythm, and ECG (no word on if either is approved in Canada). Also track vascular load, which monitors stress levels on your vascular system during sleep, and an antioxidant index, which measures carotenoid levels in five seconds to help you make better choices to support healthy aging.
Running Coach can calculate your fitness level on a scale from one to 10 and develop a tailored training plan with real-time guidance and motivational insights. The updated Together feature now supports running so you can challenge family members and friends.
The watch will send a high stress alert to advise you to take a break if this is detected while the mindfulness tracker allows you to record your mood and receive guidance for breathing exercises to help reduce stress. Additionally, you’ll get an AI-powered Energy Score that provides a snapshot of your energy level, combining metrics for both physical and mental energy.
Available in Graphite or Silver and 44mm or 40mm sizes, it boasts a 325-435mAh battery.
With a 445mAh battery and 46mm size in Black or White, the Samsung Galaxy Watch8 Classic (starts at US$700) boasts a new slimmer design, rotating bezel, and larger screen. There’s also a quick button for instant access to frequently used functions.
It has the same advanced sleep coaching and health tracking features as well as access to the personal assistant via Galaxy AI and Gemini from your wrist.
Both smartwatches are now available for pre-order and will officially launch starting July 25, 2025.
