Sennheiser BTD 700 Bluetooth Dongle Adds Auracast to Headphones

Sennheiser has introduced the BTD 700 Bluetooth dongle, designed for use with wireless headphones and earbuds for enabling plug-and-play access to aptX audio codecs, Auracast, and low-latency gaming.

Weighing 2.2 grams and measuring only 24mm long, the BTD 700 is smaller than most flash drives. It uses a single USB-C connection to upgrade the native wireless audio performance of laptops, smartphones, and tablets. It comes with a Type-C-to-A adapter.

“The BTD 700 makes high-performance wireless audio easy,” says Christian Ern, Sennheiser Senior Product Manager. “This all-in-one unlocks sound quality that rivals wired connections, even adding cutting-edge Bluetooth functionality to PCs and mobile devices missing these newer audio features.”

The BTD 700 enables the use of aptX Lossless and aptX Adaptive codecs for reliable, high-definition wireless audio up to a 24-bit depth at 96 kHz. Use it with aptX-enabled earbuds, headphones, and speakers, like the Sennheiser Momentum series; select models from the Accentum series are already equipped to support high-definition aptX codecs.

As a class-compliant audio device, the BTD 700 can bypass the native audio output on practically any Android, iOS/iPad OS, Windows, and MacOS device, as easily as inserting a flash drive. Thanks to Bluetooth 5.4, you can set up a portable Auracast broadcast for outdoor movie nights, stream music, or make conference calls on a more comfortable pair of headphones.

A dedicated Game Mode delivers audio latency as low as 30 milliseconds on supported headphones, keeping sound in sync with fast-paced visual action. With Auracast support, you can share audio to multiple Auracast-enabled audio devices, ideal for broadcasting entertainment and educational content, for example.  You will also be able to enjoy improved sound quality on audio and video chats compared to basic codecs, says Sennheiser.
