Sonos Roam

Sonos Joins Portable Bluetooth Speaker Market With Roam

In 2019, Sonos finally took its sound mobile – sort of – with the Sonos Move, its first battery-powered speaker you can use to listen to music both indoors and out. But it was still fairly big, and not exactly the type of speaker you’d take with you in a backpack. Now, Sonos has a true portable Bluetooth speaker with the Sonos Roam.

The ultra-portable Roam, which weighs under a pound, functions just like any other portable Bluetooth speaker when you are out and about. But when you are back home, it fully connects to your Sonos system over Wi-Fi. When you leave the house, it automatically switches to Bluetooth and re-pairs with your device. With a new Sound Swap feature, hold the play/pause button on the speaker to switch the music to the nearest speaker on the system so you can easily move music from one room to another. Using

Using the Sonos app, you can group any of your Sonos speakers to Roam when streaming with Bluetooth. Roam works with more than 100 streaming services, including Sonos Radio, and is easily controlled with the Sonos app, by voice with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, Apple AirPlay 2, or directly from your favourite music service app.

Like all Sonos products, Roam was tuned by industry leaders across music and film to ensure the speaker reproduces content exactly how the creator intended, says Sonos. Automatic Trueplay is now available when streaming via Bluetooth as well as WiFi so Roam is always tuned for the best listening experience in any environment. It can be positioned both vertically or horizontally, depending on the space in which you’re using it.
