Smart glasses are fun and offer tremendous convenience. Solos is taking things a step further into health, wellness, and accessibility via a new partnership with Envision that offers a smart glasses solution for the blind and low vision community.
The Solos AirGo smart glasses, which I reviewed a few years ago, will now work with Envision’s Ally accessible AI assistant. This assistant affords access to features like real-time text recognition (OCR), object identification, scene description, and facial recognition, all through voice commands and discreet, always-available hardware. Ally can understand intent and adapt to each wearer’s pace and preferences. Over time, support becomes as natural as asking a question. There are no menus nor swiping, just voice control.

Just by speaking, for example, wearers can ask Ally Solos Glasses to read text from books, signs, menus, and mail; describe surroundings, people, or scenes; recognize people, objects, and signs; scan documents or photos for meaningful content; answer questions, provide reminders, or check calendars; and converse naturally, with Ally remembering context across turns. All of this happens through subtle open-ear audio in a lightweight (42g), splash-resistant frame that is comfortable to wear all day.
Ally Solos Glasses were co-designed with blind and low-vision individuals who rely on assistive technology for everyday independence. They can also come in handy for elderly people who want to read, remember, and navigate with less friction. People with cognitive disabilities who benefit from simple, spoken interaction will also appreciate the glasses, as will caregivers and families who want their loved ones to have more autonomy.

The modular AirGo platform allows you to swap out frame fronts to suit different styles and prescriptions, while maintaining access to key Envision features and audio feedback via Solos’ directional speaker system. The glasses are compatible with Envision’s mobile app, and you can engage with features hands-free with Solos’ wake-word activated AI tools.
Solos’ AirGo smart glasses are powered by AI voice capabilities like SolosChat and SolosTranslate, and feature Whisper directional audio, customizable SmartHinge front frames, and support for prescription lenses.

Solos’ AirGo smart glasses with Envision Ally integration will be available for pre-order starting today. Every tier includes a free trial of Ally Pro, with shipping beginning October 2025.
