Amazon has introduced the eero Outdoor 7 mesh networking device which, as the name implies, is designed to be set up outside to expand your home’s Wi-Fi coverage.
eero Outdoor 7 is the brand’s first device that’s purpose-built to extend your eero network outside. It can operate in extreme temperatures, from the blistering heat of Arizona at 48°C to the chilling cold of Alberta in winter at -35°C. In fact, the eero Outdoor 7 was tested in Arizona with temperatures like this as well as in a commercial refrigerator, on a beach, and in a tunnel experiencing 100 mph winds.

The eero Outdoor 7 has an IP66 rating and is tested to operate in temperatures as cold as -40°C and as hot as 54°C. It can also stand up to rain, snow, and sun. It’s also designed to seamlessly blend into your environment, packaged with mounting accessories for stucco, vinyl, wood, or fibre cement walls. It also comes with easy-to-follow installation instructions.
The 2.5GbE port supports Power-over-Ethernet with a device like eero PoE Gateway. Amazon also offers an optional 30W Outdoor PoE+ power adapter to plug the Outdoor 7 into any outdoor AC outlet and connect wirelessly back to your eero network.

A single eero Outdoor 7 device can provide up to 15,000 square feet of outdoor coverage, so you can easily work outside and connect your outdoor devices like security cameras, speakers, and more. For larger properties, you can use multiple eero Outdoor 7 devices to set up a point-to-point connection and easily extend your network across your property and to other buildings, like a garage, barn, detached office, or an ADU. Amazon testers have used eero Outdoor 7 to get coverage from a house to a beach and from an apartment down to the street below.
The patented TrueMesh networking technology dynamically routes data through the fastest path in a network and limits interference, while TrueChannel and TrueRoam capabilities deliver seamless connectivity throughout the network. TrueRoam connects to the best available eero as you move between floors, rooms, or buildings, and TrueChannel automatically chooses the channel that delivers the best connection.

Additionally, eero Outdoor 7 supports Wi-Fi 7 and delivers wireless speeds up to 1.1 Gbps. It acts as a smart home hub so you can connect Thread devices, as well as Matter and Zigbee devices (as a controller).
eero Outdoor 7 will be available in time for the holidays for $480 on its own or $550 bundled with the 30W Outdoor 79 PoE+ power adapter. Subscribers to the eero Plus service can add advanced online security features and parental controls; take advantage of eero Internet Backup during an outage; and use the 1Password, Malwarebytes, and Guardian VPN access security apps.
