At CES 2025, Panasonic Technics is introducing its latest true wireless earbuds, the EAH-AZ100. They boast unique features like a proprietary magnetic fluid driver for providing clean, high-resolution, low vibration and low distortion sound, Voice Focus AI for clearer conversations, and multipoint connectivity that, like with the previous-gen EAH-AZ80 earbuds, allow you to connect to three devices at the same time. I had the chance to learn about and see these new earbuds at an exclusive launch event in Kyoto, Japan last month and have been using a pair since. My detailed review is to follow. For now, here’s what you need to know about these new wireless buds.

As a culmination of Technics’ long history in the audio business (2025 marks the 60th anniversary of the Technics brand), the headphones represent the best that the company has to offer in this space. At the heart is a proprietary magnetic fluid driver, the same technology found in the EAH-TZ700 wired in-ear monitors except now miniaturized to fit these wireless buds. This wasn’t an easy feat to accomplish, but Technics engineers worked tirelessly to make it happen.

What is magnetic fluid and how does it work? It’s an oil-type liquid filled with magnetic particles that’s injected into the space between the driver magnet and voice coil. This enables low-distortion playback and creates a dynamic, rhythmic, detailed listening experience, says Technics, so you hear music as it was intended. Along with low distortion, the ultra-thin free edge ensures a low frequency of 3Hz for rich bass while the aluminum diaphragm produces natural high resolution sound separation and detail.
Since we use our buds to have conversations as well, from video meetings to phone calls, Technics included a feature called Voice Focus AI. It combines an AI noise reduction chip and three mics in each earbud to ensure that both the person speaking and the one listening enjoys the best and clearest call experience possible, regardless of background noise. This includes common background noises like a busy street, wind, train engine, or noisy kids. It also improves the sound of the caller overall based on surrounding audio, like when you’re at a busy work conference or with others talking in the background. Imagine, for example, leveraging this feature when trying to find a “quiet spot” on the CES show floor to call your kid on the Eastern Time Zone to wish them good night before bedtime.

The EAH-AZ100s also feature Adaptive Noise Cancelling that works with the surrounding environment, background noise levels, and the individual shape of the ear to adjust the level of noise cancelling as needed for the situation.
From an audio performance perspective, the AZ100s are optimized for Dolby Atmos, and can provide enhanced clarity of voice with Dolby Audio content. There’s also Dolby Head Tracking support, so they respond to head movements for a more realistic sound field, no matter where your head is facing.

Like the previous generation EAH-AZ80, the EAH-AZ100 includes three-device multipoint connectivity so you can connect to your laptop, tablet, and smartphone all at the same time and seamlessly switch among them as needed. A one-touch conversation mode has been added, automatically pausing the music and switching to transparent mode so you can hear the person speaking without having to remove the buds from your ears. When you do remove the buds, wearing sensors automatically pause the music and disable the touch sensors to prevent you from accidentally tapping controls. Once you put the buds back in, both music and control instantly resumes.
They also boast the same concha-fit and shape as the AZ80s, but with improvements that reduce the size and weight of the earbuds to provide all-day comfort. Additionally, the buds come with a fifth ML size ear tip for more choice to ensure you find the best fit for optimal audio performance and noise cancellation.

The EAH-AZ100s charge in the included Qi wireless charging compatible case. They also afford improved battery life at up to 10 hours with advanced noise cancelling on and up to 28 hours with the charging case.
For connectivity, the EAH-AZ100s support the new Bluetooth LE Audio standard and Auracast to pair and share an audio experience, as well as the LC3 codec for low-latency audio when gaming and viewing videos. Compatible with Google Fast Pair, Android users can also sync chosen nearby devices and accessories automatically.

The Technics Audio Connect app is available on iOS or Android devices for easy access to preferences and personalized sound tuning, and convenient features like location tracking if the earbuds are misplaced.
The EAH-AZ100 will be available in silver and black with pricing TBA. Stay tuned for my review, including a comparison of the EAH-AZ100s to the EAH-AZ80s.
