CES 2025: Samsung Brings SmartThings to Business, Cars, Boats

Samsung SmartThings is a smart home platform for managing all your connected devices, energy usage, and more. But at CES 2025, the company explained how SmartThings is evolving to enhance the experience in businesses, cars, and even boats.

SmartThings Pro is an AI B2B solution that can be used in hotels, offices, and residential and commercial buildings. It’s also useful for those who run multiple AirBnb locations. The AI-powered solutions are designed to optimize spaces for efficiency and to offer personalized services.

AI Residence, for example, provides integrated system to monitor residents’ health, manage energy use, and provide real-time safety updates. Smart technologies are also improving the management of both public and private spaces.

For retail, there’s AI Store, designed to transform multi-store operations. Through Samsung’s Visual eXperience Transformation (VXT) platform and Samsung Knox, retail workflows can be streamlined through features like real-time inventory management and automated product price updates.

In the AI Office, you can leverage smart technologies to maximize productivity and efficiency. There are things like face recognition solutions for employee identification and SmartThings-connected devices that automatically adjust meeting room environments.

In hotels, AI Stay showcases features like smartphone-based check-ins, personalized settings, and Good Night mode.

SmartThings is also extending to the car. You’ll be able to use technologies that connect vehicles and homes through the SmartThings app. Solutions like energy optimization, efficient EV charging, and remote vehicle controls optimize convenience and bring homes and cars closer together.

The SmartThings Energy section of the company’s booth presented sustainable living technologies including solar panel integration, EV-based emergency power supplies, and 3D Map View for real-time energy monitoring. Solar panels and electric vehicles can work together to generate self-sufficient energy, with EV batteries serving as backup power during outages. 3D Map View offers a comprehensive overview of home energy consumption and explored AI-powered energy-saving modes that optimize backup battery usage.

With SmartThings Find, you can locate your vehicle in busy parking lots with Galaxy devices. Other highlights from this part of the exhibit included SmartThings-enabled features such as remote vehicle control, which can adjust the climate, as well as lock and unlock doors.

Beyond the home, business, and car, there’s also SmartThings for. Smart technology can be used in marine vessels, introducing forward-thinking technologies with autonomous navigation systems like SHIFT-AUTO and integrated smart solutions that maximize operational efficiency and safety in maritime settings.

Smart technology is also making journeys at sea safer and more convenient for ship passengers. At the booth, visitors observed SmartThings-enabled technologies for managing essential ship and vessel systems including pre-departure device checks and five scenario-based modes (Departure, Boarding, Notifications, Care Mode, Protection Mode).
