Sony has launched the ECM-AX10 Eclipsa Audio-certified microphone for smartphones, designed for vloggers, mobile filmmakers, and content creators.
The ECM-AX10 has four built-in omnidirectional microphone capsules that record sound from multiple directions. Meanwhile, Sony’s spatial audio processing recreates a sense of space, direction, and distance that the company says can make videos feel more engaging and immersive.

As the first Eclipsa Audio -certified microphone for smartphones, creators can use Sony’s dedicated Spatial Audio Video Tool app to shoot video, check footage, make simple edits, and export content with spatial audio. So, you can complete the entire workflow right from your phone.

Small and lightweight, the microphone connects directly to compatible smartphones via USB-C and gives creators three easy ways to capture sound. Ambisonics recording is for spatial audio production ideal for creating immersive videos for YouTube. Binaural recording is for an immersive headphone experience for optimizing sound even where Eclipsa Audio is not supported. Stereo recording is for everyday videos and social content.

Weighing approximately 24 grams, the ECM-AX10 is designed to be carried anywhere and set up quickly for spontaneous filming. The direct USB-C connection helps creators capture higher-quality audio without a separate recorder or complex setup, supporting a simple smartphone-first production workflow.
The Sony ECM-AX10 is available for pre-sale now for an MSRP of $349.99 in Canada and $249.99 in the U.S.
