Dyson Adds 3-in-1 Purifying Humidifying Fan and New Cordless Vacuum to Line-Up

Dyson has added two new products to its growing line-up of gear: the Dyson Pure Humidify+Cool purifying and humidifying fan and the V11 Outsize cordless vacuum.

The Pure Humidify+Cool fan can both purify and add humidity to a room, all year ’round, capturing 99.97% of air pollutants as small as 0.3 microns and adding a new technology that features a high power UV-C light to kill waterborne bacteria in water.

“People are often surprised that at Dyson we have a team of highly skilled microbiologists and an array of high-tech biochemistry labs to properly research the problems we want to solve,” says Charlie Park, Global Category Director for Environmental Care. “Combining this knowledge with key engineering principles like aerodynamics, filtration and sensing, Dyson engineers and scientists developed a three-in-one, year-round machine to tackle dry, dirty air and maintain a hygienic indoor environment.”

UV-C light kills bacteria in water by denaturing their DNA so they can no longer multiply. This process relies on thorough exposure to UV-C light. The device includes a highly reflective PTFE tube through which UV-C light is reflected. As water is pumped up from the water tank and passes through these multiple rays, the UV-C kills 99.9% of bacteria in the water in the first pass.

Once treated, the water fills the collars of the 3D Air-mesh evaporator. Inside the evaporator, purified airflow is hygienically humidified by the water vapor released from the evaporator and projected through the Air Amplifier into the room.

The humidifier/purifier is easy to clean: just press the deep clean cycle button, it will illuminate, and the LCD will direct you through the cleaning process, which includes placing the 3D Air-mesh evaporator on the water tank, filling the tank with water and a citric acid powder packet (which comes included), and activating the cycle.

The device intelligently senses pollution and humidity levels and projects hygienically humidified and purified air around the room. Air Multiplier technology ensures it reaches every corner of the room. And, for the first in Dyson Pure machines, Jet Axis Control technology puts two jets at each side of the amplifier and independently controls them to provide direct cooling, oscillation mode, backwards airflow mode, and a new Breeze mode that mimics the feeling of refreshing breeze hitting your face outside. The lasers measure and detect ultrafine particles while a separate sensor detects the amount of VOCs like formaldehyde, benzene, and NO2. A third measures relative humidity and temperature. The LCD tracks this data in real time, and the data can also be viewed in the Dyson Link app.

A HEPA filter captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, including allergens, bacteria, and pollen. Activated carbon, coated with Tris (Trishydroxymethylaminomethane) to increase absorption efficiency, removes gases like NO2 and Benzene.

The Dyson Pure Humidify+Cool is now available in Canada white/silver or black/nickel for $1,000 and comes with a magnetized remote you can set on top of the machine. It includes a sleep timer function to run at preset intervals ranging from 30 minutes up to eight hours and a Night Time mode that runs at a quiet setting with a dimmed display. The Dyson Link app can be downloaded to an iOS or Android device and can be used for controlling the unit, tracking indoor pollution, seeing the temperature and humidity levels, and getting maintenance support and troubleshooting.

On the manual cleaning side is the new V11 Outsize cordless vacuum, which boasts the most powerful suction of any of Dyson’s cordless vacuums to date. It has a 150% larger bin, 25% bigger cleaner head, and swappable, fade-free nickel-cobalt aluminum battery technology to offer up to 120 minutes of cleaning time via the two included batteries.

Optimized for deep cleaning, it includes a powerful Hyperdymium motor and 18 Dyson cyclones that generate forces of more than 79,000g to fling microscopic particles like pollen, dust, and bacteria, into the bin. The fully sealed filtration system traps 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. Dyson’s DLS technology intelligently optimizes cleaning and runtime according to floor type.

Additionally, it has a 25% wider cleaner head that measures 12.5″ in width to cover more surface area with each pass. The High Torque cleaner head intelligently detects brush bar resistance and automatically communicates with the motor and batteries’ microprocessors to change the suction power between floor types. It has stiff nylon bristles that drive deep into carpets to remove ground-in dirt, and anti-static carbon fibre filaments that capture dust from hard floors and crevices. An integrated digital motor spins the brush bar up to 60 times a second.

The bin can now hold 1.9 litres of dirt and debris, making it 150% bigger than the previous-generation V11 Absolute cordless vacuum. And thefully sealed filtration system captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, expelling cleaner air. Eighteen cyclones, four more than the Dyson V11 cordless vacuum, generate forces of more than 79,000g to fling microscopic particles into the bin.

The on-board screen shows current performance, including selected power mode and remaining runtime, and reminds you when to clean filters for optimum performance as well as informs of any blockages and how to clear them. Sensor magnets embedded in the filter assembly allow the screen to tell if the filter isn’t connected properly as well.

The Dyson V11 Outsize is available for $1,100.
