EB Games stores across Canada will bring back a Midnight Launch Event on June 5, 2025 for the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 console.
Doors will open at 12 a.m. ET/PT at 132 of EB Games’ more than 185 store locations across Canada on the day of release, allowing customers to purchase the console along with dozens of new game titles, accessories, toys, and collectibles. Walk-in quantities will be available, while supplies last.
Additionally, EB Games will celebrate the launch with an event on Crescent Street in Montreal with a Mario Kart World activation, coinciding with the Crescent Street Grand Prix Festival. Racing and gaming fans can get behind the wheel of a real-life Mario Kart-inspired setup during the weekend.

“I’m unbelievably proud of what the team has accomplished over the past few weeks,” says Stephane Tetrault, Owner of EB Games. “Bringing back midnight launches and organizing the race weekend event showcases our commitment to our community and our passion for gaming.”
“The release of the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5th will be an epic day for the gaming community,” adds Jim Tyo, President of EB Games, “and we are thrilled to announce that we will be opening 132 locations at 12 a.m., ensuring our customers are among the first to play.”
A Canadian company, EB Games relaunched under its original name earlier this month following Tetrault’s acquisition of Electronics Boutique Canada Inc., also known as GameStop Canada, owned by GameStop Global Holdings S.A.R.L. At the time, Tetrault said the decision wasn’t just a business one but also about “bringing something back that Canadians truly love…with community, nostalgia, and innovation at its heart.”
