Focal has introduced two new pairs of headphones, the open-back Hadenys (pronounced “ah-den-ees”) headphones and closed-back Azurys (“ah-zur-ees”) headphones. The passive headphones combine patented speaker driver technologies.
The Hadenys headphones, designed for use in the home, is inspired by The Hadean, an eon in which the Earth was first formed. Finished in brown, they employ an organic, timeless style. They feature patented Focal technologies along with honeycomb grilles, genuine leather, and a breathable woven fabric headband.
Ideal for both use at home and on the go, the Azurys passive headphones have a closed architecture and feature the same design and premium materials as Hadenys, including genuine leather, woven fabric, aluminum, and magnesium. With a blueish hue inspired by Azurite, a semi-precious stone, they have a “unique, mesmerizing effect,” says Focal.
Both headphones feature speaker drivers that are designed and crafted in France at Focal’s workshops in Saint-Étienne. These speaker drivers are the same as those found in the Bathys headphones, which were launched in October 2022 as the brand’s first wireless headphones with active noise-cancelling technology.
The 15/8″ (40mm) speaker drivers with an aluminum/magnesium ‘M’-shaped dome have been adjusted to fit these passive headphones and deliver detailed, warm, and dynamic high-fidelity sound.
Focal provides each set of headphones with a matching coloured carrying case and necessary cables. The Hadenys will be available in June for $899 and the Azurys next month as well for $699.
