The Samsung Galaxy Ring that the company launched at its Unpacked event earlier this year, is officially available in Canada. Along with the wearable, Samsung also announced the most affordable smartphone in its new Galaxy S24 line, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE.
Designed to bring AI experiences to a “budget” phone, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is powered by the AI-based ProVisual Engine and features Galaxy AI’s Photo Assist features. Equipped with a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, it also has a long-lasting 4,700mAh battery and an Exynos 2400 series chipset.
The phone comes with a 50MP wide lens camera and 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom both supported by optical image stabilization (OIS), along with a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 10MP selfie camera. With the ProVisual Engine, the phone leverages advanced AI algorithms to deliver detail and textures in photos. Nightography with AI image signal processing (ISP), meanwhile, helps improve low light performance for night portraits.
The 50MP Adaptive Pixel Sensor of the wide camera enables optical-quality performance at zoom levels from 2x, in addition to the optical 3x zoom. AI Zoom also enhances image quality at distances between digital zoom lengths. The Object-Aware Engine recognizes scenes and optimizes colours in Super High Dynamic Range (HDR), providing vibrant and lifelike photos and videos, says Samsung.
For editing, Photo Assist, which is available across Galaxy S24 devices, is also available in the cheaper S24 FE model. Use features like Generative Edit for moving objects or removing them completely; Portrait Studio to turn selfies into different styles, like cartoons, comics, watercolour paintings, and sketches; Edit Suggestions to remove flaws like reflections; and Instant Slow-mo.
The Exynos 2400 series chipset enables gaming, says Samsung, combined with a 1x larger vapor chamber that improves cooling to maintain peak performance for longer periods of game play as well as the longer battery life, 120Hz refresh rate, large screen, and Vision Booster features.
You can enjoy the same AI experience with this phone as you can with other Galaxy S24 devices, including Circle to Search, Interpreter, Live Translate, Chat Assist, Note Assist, and Browsing Assist.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will be available for order starting October 3, 2024, in the Blue, Graphite, Gray, and Mint colours.
As for the Samsung Galaxy Ring, it will be available starting on the same day for $550. Those interested in grabbing one can visit a Samsung Experience Store to try it on for size using the sizing kit, or you can order the sizing kit online to try it on for 24 hours to pick the right fit. The Samsung Galaxy Ring uses sensors to track your wellness 24/7, with the data integrated with Samsung Health. This includes detailed sleep analysis, cycle tracking, skin temperature monitoring, activity, and more.
