Google has launched Googlebook, a new category of laptops supporting by a number of top brands like Asus, Acer, and HP. Available for pre-order, the laptops build on the Android technology stack with ChromeOS, Gemini intelligence, and seamless pairing with your Android phone out of the box.
The concept behind Googlebook is one we all know too well: you likely spend your day going from laptop to smartphone, back and forth. The computers are designed to make the connection between these two flow more nicely. Once you sign in, all settings from your Android phone, including saved passwords, Wi-Fi networks, and messages move to the computer, backed by end-to-end encryption. Then, you can leverage features like Continue On that lets you pick up where you left off on your phone on the laptop, and vice versa.
Using the Files apps on the Googlebook, you can easily view, search for, and open files and photos from your phone. With Cast My Apps, you can stream and interact with phone apps in a desktop window. This is just a sample of the features designed to make the experience more cohesive.
Google is also bringing back the fan favourite Glowbar, which lights up at start-up, sweeps to show your battery charge level, and reacts with playful animations when you talk to Gemini. Using Magic Pointer, wiggle your mouse cursor to bring Gemini directly to whatever’s on your screen. You can ask Gemini to organize a messy calendar or translate text, for example, without juggling multiple windows. Gemini only acts when you ask it to, and you can switch it off whenever you want.
Rambler, which Google lauched in the Pixel 11 phone series, is accessible next to the Quick Insert key. It helps streamline spoken words into organized, ready-to-share writing. You can talk through your notes, action items, or a stream of consciousness, even in multiple languages, and Rambler will structure them with clean headers, checklists, and formatted takeaways.
With Create My Widget, you can customize your desktop by describing what you need in plain language. It generates custom widgets that can share relevant updates throughout your day.
With access to both the Play Store for Android apps and Chrome browser with extensions, many are optimized for large screens along with mouse and keyboard input. Every purchase comes with a complimentary year of GeForce NOW.
For builders and makers, Googlebook includes Antigravity, the AI agent development platform for building, testing, and deploying apps right on your device. Developers working on the frontier also get a full terminal environment to run tools like Claude CLI or Antigravity CLI and perform serious agentic coding.
Googlebooks will be available initially from Acer (starts at $1,299), Asus (starts at $1,799), Dell (starts at $1,699), HP (starts at $1,799), and Lenovo (starts at $1,799). They’re all made from premium materials like aluminum, magnesium alloy, and carbon fibre. They boast responsive touchscreens with up to 2.8K OLED displays, haptic glass trackpads, and backlit keyboards. Under the hood, there are processors from Intel and Qualcomm (at launch, Intel Core Ultra Series 3 and Snapdragon X Elite) paired with dedicated NPUs capable of over 45 TOPS, delivering fast performance and up to 14 hours of battery life. A baseline of 16GB high-speed RAM is available across the entire portfolio, and some models go up to 32GB.
Each Googlebook comes with 12 months of Google AI Pro providing 5TB of cloud storage and Gemini Advanced tools, plus three months of YouTube Premium and Adobe Photoshop. Googlebook OS also comes with regular feature drops and updates for up to 10 years.
Pre-orders are now open and devices arrive on store shelves starting October 4 in the U.S., and October 5 in Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, and Australia.
