New Pioneer Dash Cam Adds Emergency Location Sharing

Pioneer has introduced its new VREC-Z410DC 3K dual-channel dash cam, which has a unique “Send Location” button that can instantly share your GPS location with trusted contacts if there’s an unfortunate accident or other emergency.

The Send Location button also locks and protects the current footage while drafting a text message with the driver’s GPS coordinates. This is sent to a preset emergency contact through the free Pioneer ai-sense app. Once a phone is paired over Bluetooth and an emergency contact is set, the feature works right out of the box, with no subscription required. If an impact occurs before the button can be pressed, the built-in G-sensor automatically locks the current recording to prevent important footage from being overwritten.

As for video quality, the 5MP front sensor records 3K WDR video with its 144° wide-angle lens. This, says Pioneer, is sharp enough to capture details like license plates and road signs in both bright daylight and low-light conditions. The Full HD rear camera, meanwhile, provides continuous rear coverage. Built-in GPS logs speed, route, and location data with every recording.

The dash cam supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can adjust settings and start recordings directly from the vehicle’s touchscreen. Camera controls are also available through Pioneer’s ai-sense app.

Designed to mount discreetly behind the rearview mirror, the Dual-Channel Dash Cam maintains a clean, low-profile appearance without obstructing the driver’s view.

The Pioneer Dual-Channel Dash Cam (VREC-Z410DC) is available now for US$220.
