Greenlight, a financial technology company best known for its debit card and money app for kids and teens, is entering the family digital calendar space to compete with others like Skylight Calendar. The new Greenlight Family Hub is a dedicated smart home display designed specifically for families to function as a shared household command centre for coordinating calendars, photos, chores, an AI family assistant, grocery lists, safety features, and more.
Greenlight Family Hub, which joins the company’s GPS-enabled safe devices, debit cards, saving and investing for kids, financial account protection, and identity theft prevention, is designed to help families more seamlessly manage their households, eliminate stress, and reduce the need for those pages-long to-do lists.
Hub runs a closed, family-safe platform with no app store and no browser. The unified family calendar can pull data from sources like Google, Outlook, iCloud, and Webcal and combine it into one shared, real-time view. Kids can earn stars toward custom rewards or allowance for completing tasks and chores, while parents stay in control with an Admin PIN.
The calendar also provides real-time location of kids via phone or Safe Family device. Parents can see where their kids are via a full-screen map. Use the built-in AI assistant for hands-free help for questions, reminders, or family updates, voice-activated with the wake word “Hey Greenlight.”
Additionally, you can use it as a digital photo frame to display photos without the need for a subscription. It syncs with both Google Photos and iCloud. You can also add shared lists for things like groceries and to-do items.
Available in a 10.1-inch and 15.6-inch size for U$199 and US$299, respectively, each Family Hub comes with a wall mount and a table stand to be used in the kitchen, on a countertop, or hung on the wall. Families can choose between a free version of Family Hub or Family Hub+, which unlocks advanced AI and safety features for US$10/mo. or US$99/yr. Existing Greenlight customers get Family Hub access with their current plan at no additional cost.
