In many ways, HEOS became the audiophile solution as an alternative to the single stand-alone powered speakers that were gaining popularity as a plug and play whole-home sound audio solution at the time.
Over the past decade HEOS has remains is a leading wireless audio platform developed to deliver seamless, high-quality sound throughout the home without the need for complicated wiring or setups. While HEOS remains the main streaming platform for Denon, Marantz and Classé, HEOS is now owned by Harman International, potentially meaning the HEOS ecosystem could be further expanded to other brands in the future.

At its core, HEOS enables users to stream music, podcasts, or other audio content to multiple rooms and devices, such as AV receivers, sound bars, and wireless speakers from a single app.

The HEOS standard continued to evolve from 2023-24 with home page customizations, centralized searches, room and speaker grouping presets and today supports music services, including high-resolution platforms like Qobuz, along with Roon Ready certification.

In 2025, a new major HEOS app update bring listeners even closer to the music with a refocus away from what was once called “HEOS Built-in” to now “Powered by HEOS”—a name that emphasizes that HEOS is not a closed ecosystem. It is the wireless engine inside products by brands people already know and trust. In a crowded category, “Powered by HEOS” brings together more than fifty Denon, Marantz, and Classé products under the “Powered by HEOS” banner, that also means a listener’s system can be as small as a single speaker, or as expansive as 64 products in 32 zones all working together.

Part of the new update includes a new logo, inspired by radio waves, that reflects the freedom of wireless sound and the effortless flow of music throughout the home. Its directional form captures how HEOS connects everything from streaming services, personal libraries, and high-performance systems into one unified listening experience.
