Jabra Elite 8 Active, Elite 10 Earbuds Come with Spatial Audio, LE Smart Case

Jabra unveiled upgraded versions of its Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 and Elite 10 Gen 2 earbuds. They now include enhanced spatial sound powered by Dolby Audio, enhanced Natural HearThrough for better awareness in noisy environments, and improved Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). They also come with a new LE Audio smart case.

What is the LE Audio Smart Case?

The LE Audio smart case has dual USB-C and 3.5mm jack compatibility. There’s a chip right in the case you can use to stream audio to the connected earbuds with lower latency than standard Bluetooth. Jabra says this provides better audio and video sync along with hifi sound quality through the LC3 codec. Using the 2-in-1 cable, the smart charging case becomes an adapter. Plug it into any device, like an airplane seatback entertainment system, treadmill, or TV, and enjoy spatial sound streaming directly to the buds.

Audio Performance Improvements

Both earbuds offer improved spatial sound tuning and Dolby Atmos support. There’s also new spatial sound benefits across a wider range of content, including podcasts, says Jabra.

Call performance is improved through six-microphone call technology and enhanced AI call algorithms. The microphones distinguish which sounds are background noise and prioritize the spoken voice. Effective noise-reduction algorithms are automatically switched on to provide clear call performance depending on the activity or location.

Jabra has also improved ANC, claiming it can now block up to twice as much noise as previous generations. The noise reduction performance of the internal feedback microphone has been increased to provide a better ANC effect for noises in the mid- and low-frequency range. The Adaptive ANC algorithms have also been enhanced to maximize the adaptive effect for more users. The result is stronger noise cancellation in multiple scenarios, including aircraft and background noise at the gym.

The Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 and Elite 10 Gen 2 also provide increased situational (or outdoor) awareness with new Natural HearThrough, which is optimized for wind noise reduction and is twice as effective as the previous generation. Thanks to smart algorithms that increase the frequency range of HearThrough, the surrounding ambient sounds now appear clearer and more natural, while wind noise and whistling are noticeably reduced, says Jabra.

How Are They Different From One Another?

The Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 are fully sweat- and water-proof with an IP68 rating for the earbuds and IP54 rating for the case, which is resistant to dust and splashes. They feature a secure wing-free fit with Jabra ShakeGrip technology and offer up to 8 hours battery life, up to 32 hours with case (ANC on). They work with Swift Pair, Google Fast Pair, and Spotify Tap playback and support Bluetooth multipoint connection.

The Elite 10 Gen 2 offer rich bass through 10mm speakers and boast a semi-open design with Jabra ComfortFit technology. The battery runs for up to six hours per charge, 27 hours with the charging case and ANC on. With an IP57 rating, they aren’t quite as durable, but you get the same Bluetooth multipoint connectivity as well as Fast Pair, Swift Pair, and Spotify Tap playback.
