Just Add Power’s Launches KVM Series Transmitters

Just Add Power’s new KVM-Series transmitters is said to “solve supply chain issues” through in-the-field upgradability.

The new transmitters were developed following positive customer demand for the 718AVP and 749AVP at a time when Dolby downmixing chips are in short supply. The solution supports keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) as well stereo audio breakout right out of the box. Once chips are available again, techs can modify them in the field to add full AVP functionality. This provides a flexible solution to allow dealers to proceed with projects that normally would have required AVP Series transmitters, says the company, which can in turn help them to protect investments and keep projects on time.

Similar to the out-of-stock 718AVP and 749AVP, these PoE transmitters encode a 4K or lower resolution source into an IP signal while sending it over networks with ultra-low latency and instant switching.

The KVM Series features support for HDCP 2.2 and USB 2.0, image pull, stereo audio output 3.5 mm with adjustable delay and RS-232, IR, and CEC control of sources. Upgraded features include Dolby DSP, re-encoding Dolby Digital 5.1 as Dolby Pro Logic II for HDMI distribution to both multi-channel and stereo audio zones and provide two analog audio inputs that are mixable with HDMI audio.

“We are not immune to supply chain issues,” says Just Add Power Sales Team Manager, Taft Strickland. “The new 718KVM and 749KVM transmitters not only present installers with an affordable, modular solution that provides the KVM product they need now, but also offers them future support for AVP. We will continue to produce this product even after the chip shortage has resolved because it provides a lower cost of entry into Just Add Power AV distribution with KVM functionality for projects that do not need Dolby downmixing.”

The KVM Series units are shipping now. The 718KVM 3G/Ultra transmitter that supports KVM and stereo audio breakout is available for an MSRP of $1,360 and the VBS-HDIP 749KVM 3G/Ultra 3-in-1 rackmount transmitter for MSRP $4.090. The VBS-DSP-KIT field upgrade DSP chip to permit KVM series AVP functionality is coming soon and will sell for $140.
