Lyngdorf Audio has announced the launch of the DW-1 in-wall woofer specifically made for custom installations requiring the shallowest woofer solution. DW-1 stands for the first Discreet Woofer and is the sixth model of the company’s Discreet custom installation series.
The DW-1 in-wall woofer complements Lyngdorf Audio’s Discreet in-wall speakers as well as the living room friendly MH and FR on-wall speakers and adds to the larger BW-20 home cinema woofer.
The DW-1 is a rigid and sealed enclosure that is easy to integrate and fits 4 inch / 10 cm cavity walls, while the extended height provides the large inner cabinet volume required for bass extension.
The DW-1 utilizes an unusually shallow and patented woofer design customized for Lyngdorf Audio, with a voice-coil/cone geometry and suspension to allow a space-saving yet high-excursion construction. A four-layer voice coil, an ultra-rigid dual aluminum cone, a powerful neodymium magnet, and an extremely rigid cast aluminum basket provide distinctive bass performance, achieving a high output level and low bass extension. The high-bandwidth design ensures an accurate, fast response and allows a seamless sound integration with the main speakers.
The DW-1 is branded as an ideal subwoofer or woofer solution for living rooms or media rooms with entirely installed in-wall speaker systems, rooms where the speakers can be visible but the woofers should be hidden, or any media room and home cinema with no space for placing subwoofers in the room. It comes with a paintable, magnetically held grill to cover the woofer front.
The DW-1 production will start in October 2024 at Lyngdorf Audio, Denmark and is exclusively available in Canada through The Watershed Group.
