Microsoft has released the new Surface Laptop 5G for business customers. It has a 13.8-inch screen, is powered by Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processors, and as the name implies, comes with the option for 5G connectivity.
The Surface Laptop 5G combines these features with a powerful 40+ TOPS Neural Processing Unit (NPU), delivering fast on-device AI for smarter workflows and real-time collaboration. With the integrated 5G modem, you can enjoy seamless 5G connectivity so you don’t need to search for hotspots or worry about signal strength. This will, however, require a paid connection. But when using it, IT can deploy, manage, and secure devices remotely, with support for eSIM, zero-touch deployment, and AI-powered risk detection via Microsoft Security Copilot.
It comes equipped with six adaptive antennas that ensure strong, reliable connections, even on the move. It continually adapts to its environment, automatically adjusting signal paths and power based on how it’s being held or used. As you move between environments, it seamlessly transitions between 5G and Wi-Fi networks so you maintain a steady and secure connection to cloud-based apps, updates, and corporate resources. It can also function as a mobile hotspot, sharing its 5G connection with other devices when Wi-Fi isn’t available.

Weighing under three pounds, it’s also durable. The antennas are strategically positioned higher on the device to reduce interference and maintain a strong, reliable and consistent connection. This design required a new material that allows radio signals to pass through without impacting performance.
Surface Laptop 5G also includes both NanoSIM and eSIM options, integrated to preserve its slim profile while enabling global connectivity.
Surface Laptop 5G joins a growing portfolio of Copilot+ PCs for business, including the Surface Pro for Business, 12-inch and Surface Laptop for Business, 13-inch now shipping. The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5G arrives on August 26 and 5G connectivity will be available later in 2025 on specific SKUs. eSIM support and availability may vary by carrier and country.
