Monitor Audio Adds In-Wall Large Speakers to Creator Series

Monitor Audio has announced the new Creator Series in-wall large speakers, designed for home cinemas and premium multi-room sound systems. The in-wall large speakers extend the Creator Series with three models covering Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels.

The W1L ($1,600 ea.) features C-CAM Drivers, ideal for entry-level installations, where product simplicity and solid acoustic performance is required, says Monitor Audio. The W2L ($2,400 ea.) features Rigid Surface Technology and C-CAM Drivers offering improved acoustic performance and better power handling. It contains additional features for easy placement. Then, there’s the W3L ($3,500 ea.), which features the same Driver Technology found in the flagship Platinum and Cinergy Series. It has high SPL capabilities, making it ideal for high performance installations.

Additionally, the WL-BOX ($450 ea.) is a three-piece back box that stands 83″ high by 13 3/4″ wide and is designed specifically for the new Creator In-Wall large models. It provides the ideal output for all three Creator large in-walls! It fits in standard 2 x 4 inches.

Monitor Audio notes that smaller drivers have lower mass, allowing them to respond more quickly to audio signals. This results in tighter, more controlled bass and better transient response, adds the company, enhancing the clarity and precision of low-frequency sounds. Multiple smaller drivers can also distribute sound more evenly across a room, which improves dispersion and creates a more balanced, consistent listening experience.

Tier 2 and Tier 3 in-wall large models feature a rotatable ’HF/MF mid-pod array.’ The mid-pod array can be rotated to allow speakers to be positioned within a vertical or horizontal plain to suit the application at the installation stage.

When the mid-pod is rotated for LCR applications, this flexible solution ensures optimized sound directionality for different system requirements and enhanced stereo imaging and spatial accuracy.

The Quik-Link terminal ensures speedy installation by simplifying the process of wiring up the speaker. The connector enables speaker cables to be pre-fitted and terminated before the need to install the physical speaker. The Quik-link terminal and the speaker can be connected securely via ‘snap’ magnets and a neat locking latch mechanism.

The combined output of multiple smaller drivers can match or exceed the output of a single large driver, but with less cone excursion. Reduced cone movement lowers distortion and cabinet resonance, maintaining cleaner sound even at high volumes, Monitor Audio claims.

The Creator Series in-wall large models can be supplied and fitted with a dedicated ‘Back Box.’ Specifically designed with the largest possible volume to perform at its most optimum, the Large Back Box provides enhanced acoustic performance, consistent and balanced audio, and reduced sound transmission between other rooms and spaces. The Large Back Box provides simplified installation with a defined mounting space, aiding in more accurate speaker positioning and simplifying the speed and installation process for integrators.

Tri-Grip II is a new dog-leg mechanism that is stronger and more reliable than the previous generation. The new mechanism relies on a dual thread 4mm screw and a brass insert. This combination provides a solid connection between the dog leg and the product.

In addition to the new screw thread, there is a latch system that keeps the dog leg in the home position while the product is being installed or removed from the ceiling, while cushioned pads on the ends of the dog-legs soften the impact against plaster board, for a firmer, more secure grip.
