TP-Link has expanded its Tapo smart home line with its first 4K video doorbell, the Tapo Doorbell Pro D260.
The Tapo Doorbell Pro D260 provides 4K video with a 180° diagonal field of view, advanced radar detection, 3D motion mapping, IP66 weather-resistance, and subscription-free AI detection and local storage.
With the wide field of view, the Tapo Doorbell Pro D260 can capture the entire doorstep in 4K so homeowners can see everything from visitor faces to packages. Advanced radar technology coupled with traditional PIR sensors work together to reduce false alerts and track motion more accurately, says TP-Link. Additionally, integrated 3D motion mapping allows homeowners to see an aerial view of activity around the entryway.
IP66 weather-resistance ensures operation year ’round and the doorbell works with multiple power. Hardwire connection enables 24/7 recording and Pre-Roll, a feature that lets you see up to four extra seconds of footage leading up to an event for the full context. The rechargeable battery lasts an average of 180 days per charge.
The Tapo Doorbell Pro D260 keeps footage and data local with no subscription required. On-device AI detection identifies people, animals, vehicles, and packages, with local storage available via a separate microSD card, up to 512 GB. Facial recognition is optional: homeowners can enable it to store up to 50 profiles locally or leave it off entirely.
Use the Tapo app to receive real-time doorbell alerts and communicate with visitors. Doorbell Call places a call directly to you when a visitor presses the doorbell. Two-Way Audio enables a live conversation through the app. Quick Responses let you send a pre-set message when you are unavailable.
The D260 also integrates seamlessly with the broader Tapo smart home ecosystem. When linked to Tapo’s existing smart locks under the same account, you can unlock the door with a single tap directly from both the doorbell live view and the Doorbell Call interface. The D260 supports Tapo Hubs as indoor chimes and works with the Tapo H500 HomeBase for centralized local video storage and management, alongside broad compatibility across Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and SmartThings.
The Tapo D260 will officially launch on September 30, 2026 with an MSRP of US$220.
