Waze Updates Navigation App With Features for Roundabouts, Parking, & More

Waze has announced several new updates to its popular navigation app, helping drivers navigate more safely and conveniently. The updates, as usual with the crowd-sourced app, rely on local Waze drivers, community members, and municipal partners, to provide helpful information for drivers.

Waze Roundabout

Roundabouts can be, let’s face it, annoying and tricky to navigate. A new feature now more clearly shows you which lane to choose and where to exit so you don’t miss your turn and end up doing several roundabouts to get to your desires destination. The feature is rolling out globally to Android users this month and will be available to iOS users later this year.

Waze

Another new feature can alert you in advance when emergency vehicles, like an ambulance, are stopped along your route so you can adjust your driving as needed. Thanks to information from the Waze for City partners, this update is available to drivers in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, and France on Android and iOS, with more countries coming soon.

Waze

To help you avoid speeding tickets, Waze’s up-to-date information about speed limits around the world includes providing alerts when a speed limit is about to decrease along your route. This gives you more time to slow down and safely adjust to the changing road conditions. This feature rolls out globally to all Android and iOS users this month.

Waze

The navigation app already alerts you about hazards like potholes, railroad crossings, and bad weather. Now, you’ll also get early warnings about sharp curves, speed bumps, and toll booths. These alerts roll out now globally to all Android and iOS users this month.

Waze

Through a partnership with Flash, Waze is now offering more helpful information about parking garages, including what it costs, if it’s covered, if it’s wheelchair accessible, if there are valet options, and if there’s EV charging stations available. In some locations, you can even reserve your parking space right from the Waze app. New parking information starts rolling out in the coming weeks on Android and iOS for over 30,000 parking garages across Canada and the U.S. including major cities like New York, Chicago, and Montreal.

Waze

Many Waze drivers like taking preferred favorite routes to frequently visited places, like home or work, even if they aren’t the fastest option. Beginning this month, Waze is making it easier to see information about your usual routes, including live traffic updates and delays along the way. You can use this information to quickly compare favorite routes with alternate ones and choose the route that makes the most sense, not only based on traffic but also familiarity. This update rolls out this month globally on Android and iOS.
