Renpho Mini Massage Gun

Renpho Mini Massage Gun

The Renpho Mini Massage Gun will become a fitness enthusiast’s favourite gadget, and it’s the perfect gift. Why? It’s not likely something they’d buy for themselves, yet something they’d probably use all the time once they have it. This one is perfect for travel, or even to pack in their gym bag for soothing relief after a lunch workout session before heading back to the office. It weighs just a pound and can fit in the palm of your hand. It can emulate tapotement, which is a Swedish massage technique designed to stimulate the nervous system through rapid vibrations. Four massage heads are included so whether they want to massage their aching thighs or stiff neck, there’s a tool for it. There are also five speed levels. Take things up a notch and get the Mini Thermacool Massage Gun that adds heat and cold to the equation.

Buy the Renpho Mini Massage Gun for $79.99.

Flybird Adjustable Weight Bench

Flybird adjustable weight bench

Even if this bench is no longer on sale by the time you read this, it’s still worth every penny at the regular price. I bought this in summer 2022 after I was more than a year into my fitness journey. I was going to start a new program that required a weight bench. I was concerned about space since our basement theatre room (now also workout room) isn’t exactly big. So, I needed something compact. This model is absolutely perfect. It was easy to set up, it’s lightweight so I can lift and move it to the corner of the room when I’m done, and it adjusts from fully upright to lie flat with several angles in between and a pin to lock it in place. It’s long enough for both me (5’6″) and my partner (6’1″) to both lie flat to chest press weights. It’s tested to hold up to 750 lbs. thanks to the reinforced structure. I’m more than four years in now with this weight bench and it’s still as good as new.

Buy the Flybird Adjustable Weight Bench for $129.97, down 13% from its regular price of $149.99.

Fitbit Edge Tracker

Fitbit Edge 2
Active Obsidian Lifestyle Urban-Run 01358

If you’re looking for the perfect Goldilocks smart tracker option, the Fitbit Edge might be it. It’s a fitness tracker design that, unlike the Fitbit Air, has a a small screen. Similar to older models like the Fitbit Charge 6, you get simple visuals on wrist. But it’s not as feature rich as the Google Pixel Watch 5, a step down from the traditional smartwatch experience. So you get fewer distractions and can focus solely on health, wellness, and fitness. You get access to Google Health and Premium with a subscription (it comes with a three-month trial), up to a week’s battery life, and an ultra-bright Hybrid OLED display. It auto-recognizes plenty of exercises and has precision GPS, ideal for runners, hikers, and cyclers.

Buy the Fitbit Edge for $229.99.

Bose Sports Open Earbuds

Bose Sport open ear buds

It’s all about the clip-style buds nowadays, and these are designed to active users with a secure and lightweight fit. There’s no noise cancelling, of course, but they do have Bose SpeechClarity, a proprietary AI-enhanced voice-isolation technology. One dedicated microphone and one voice pickup unit in each earbud work together to isolate your voice from background noise while you’re on calls. By the time you read this, they should also have Google Find Hub and Alexa+ built-in along with shortcut support for Apple Music. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the tactile controls, IP54 dust and water resistance (yes, that means sweat, too), and the upright charging case that will give you up to 22 hours total (seven hours per charge).

Buy the Bose Sport Open Earbuds for $289.

SPRI Exercise Dice

SPRI exercise dice

I love the idea of this six-sided dice, perfect when you need inspiration to workout but don’t know what to do. It’s also great for group fitness glasses, maybe while working out with your girlfriends on the beach during vacation. Each side of the first die has a specific exercise, the second die shows a number for reps or duration of time. Of course, there’s a wild card option that can be dealer’s choice. (Please, don’t make it burpees!)

Buy the SPRI Exercise Dice for $12.22, down 25% from the regular price of $16.26.

Beyerdynamic Amiron 200 Open-Ear Headphones

beyerdynamic Amiron 200

Some people don’t like in-ears while working out, especially while running. A good solution is open-ear models like the Beyerdynamic Amiron 200s. The lightweight headphones come with flexible ear hooks, making them ideal for activities like running. The open acoustic design allows external sounds to remain audible while you can still enjoy your tunes or podcast. With up to 11 hours of playback per charge and a total of 36 hours via the charging case, Amiron 200 can run for another 90 minutes via a quick five-minute charge. USB-C and wireless charging offer flexible recharging options. Use touch controls to access playback, volume, and calls. Dual microphones include environmental noise cancellation for phone calls. They meet IP54 certification for sweat, dust, and splash resistance. Use the app for EQ adjustment, control customization, and OTA updates.

Buy the Beyerdynamic Amiron 200s for $219.99.

Apple AirPods 5 True Wireless Earbuds

Apple AirPods 5

A great gift for any iPhone owner, are a worthy upgrade even for someone who already has an old pair, these offer improved active noise cancellation (ANC), integrated heart rate sensing, and extended battery life. There are features like live translation, new Siri AI, and personalized spatial audio to sink into a playlist while lifting weights or running.

Buy the Apple AirPods 5 with Wired Charging Case for $174.99.

Apple Watch Series 12 Smartwatch

Apple Watch Series 12

Let’s be honest: every Apple Watch since the beginning looks pretty much the same. Apple knows the design it likes, and it isn’t diverting from that. But the Apple Watch Series 12 is a significant upgrade under the hood for other reasons. It has a more powerful S11 chip that is required for the new Health Sensing System, improved Siri AI, and other features that are exclusive to this model (and the adventurer’s Ultra 4). There’s Readiness Score, for example, a long-needed feature for this smartwatch, and Audio Intelligence, with features like Siri Recap and Live Rewind coming later this year. My favourite now is Live Music Recognition which activates Shazam immediately with a twist of the Digital Crown to open your Smart Stack. It starts listening and identifies whatever song is playing with lightning speed. The Apple Watch Series 11 is still a wonderful model to consider, but if you’re buying new or upgrading someone from a much older model, the Series 12 is the one to get.

Buy the Apple Watch Series 12 for $549.

Garmin CIRQA Band

Garmin CIRQA screenless fitness tracker

This year, I have reviewed a number of screenless trackers. They look like bands or bracelets with a tiny tracker on the underside that comes in contact with your skin. It passively tracks everything from activities to vitals and sleep, and you can see the reports in the app. The Garmin CIRQA is among the best. You don’t need a subscription, its tracking is accurate, and automatic activity detection works well. It has features I haven’t seen in others, like the option to upload a workout selfie for each workout, create a cute card with the workout stats, and share it with friends or post to social media. It’s thicker than others, but this means guys and gals with bigger arms will love that it isn’t a thin, dainty strip.

Buy the Garmin CIRQA for $279.99.

Fitbit Air

Fitbit Air

The Fitbit Air won’t do much without a Google Health Premium subscription, but it does come with a three-month trial to get you started, and the hardware itself is ultra-cheap. It’s ideal for those who won’t something passive and unobtrusive that can still capture all the essential metrics, from activities to vitals, sleep, and more. It’s a fully app-driven experience, and the AI Coach is so helpful. You can set a whole workout plan, ask for fitness and wellness advice, tell it everything you eat to instantly and easily log meals, even ask about injuries. The battery lasts up to a week per charge, and the tracking accurate. While it doesn’t always capture activities, you can always start and stop one from the app. But it’s a great thin band that you can use alongside to app to monitor everything about your wellness.

Buy the Fitbit Air for $129.98.

Synergee 3-Tier Dumbbell Rack

A woman lifting weights in front of a weight rack.

OK, so this technically isn’t a tech product, but it goes hand-in-hand with those on a fitness journey who are using tech devices like smartwatches, fitness trackers, and heart rate monitors and building their own home gym. I fall into this camp and recently bought a dumbbell rack just like this to upgrade from the smaller triangle rack I had before. And I absolutely love it. I was able to put it together easily and it comfortably fits all my weights. This includes pairs of 40, 30, 20, 17.5, 15, 12, 10, 8, 5, and 3-lb. dumbbells as well as 30- and 45-lb. kettle bells. The total weight capacity is 1,100 lbs., so you can use this if you have an even heavier set of weights, too. The weights sit on an angle making them easy to grab and put back. While it’s large, it fits nicely against the wall and out of the way.

Buy the Synergee 3-Tier Dumbbell Rack for $129.99.

Everlast Workout Fitness Gloves

A man putting on Everlast workout gloves.

I don’t ever do strength training without gloves, which provide much better grip strength. These are simple, affordable, and suitable for both women and men. The fingerless gloves have a padded palm and are made from breathable fabric. They are easy to put on and take off. I love the loops to pull them from the tips: with the ones I have, I often have to flip them inside out to get them off. They’re great for using at ropes courses, too, if you’re going with the kids and want to avoid tearing up your palms!

Buy the Everlast Workout Fitness Gloves for $14.

Google Pixel Watch 5 Smartwatch

Google Pixel Watch 5

For Android phone owners, especially those who have a Google Pixel device, Pixel Watch is one of the most elegant smartwatch designs that doesn’t skimp on features to achieve the wristwatch-like look. It’s loaded with AI smarts via Gemini, customization features like the ability to use AI prompts to make your own custom watch face design, gesture controls, and more. With Google Health Premium, you get a comprehensive look at your health and wellness with a personalized virtual coach you can ask just about anything. Is this frozen shoulder? Why didn’t I sleep well? What should I have for dinner based on what I had for breakfast and lunch to maintain my protein goals? Even without Health Premium (it comes with a three-month trial), it’s still a fantastic smartwatch.

Buy the Google Pixel Watch 5 for $589.99.

Oura Ring 5 Smart Ring

Oura Ring 5

I have been wearing an Oura Ring 5 for month now, upgraded from the Oura Ring 4, and it’s the slimmest, sleekest smart ring I have ever worn. It really doesn’t feel like a smart ring. But it tracks so much, including activities, vitals, and sleep. Automatic activity detection, which determines when you’re doing an activity like strength training, walking, running, even kickboxing, is the most accurate of any wearable I have tested. Sleep tracking is the benchmark as well. I’d highly recommend this ring, but keep in mind that if you’re getting it as a gift, you’ll either have to spring for the subscription, too, or get it for someone who has expressed interest and a willingness to pay the monthly membership, as it’s not much good without it.

Buy the Oura Ring 5 for $649.99.
