Apple Fitness+ Strength Training

New Content is Coming to Apple Fitness+

Apple Fitness+ will get new content starting Monday, January 6, 2025, including new programs for strength, yoga, and even pickleball fans, a new collaboration with Strava, and new Time to Walk subjects.

Strength Training

Apple Fitness+ Strength Training

What’s most notable about the new strength program is that it’s progressive, designed with workouts you can do over a period of weeks and redo, using heavier weights or pushing yourself further as you build strength. It is designed to be done over a three-week period and targets every major muscle group. There are a total of 12 30-minute workouts with Progressive Overload (Week One), Time Under Tension (Week Two), and Dynamic Power (Week Three). As noted, you can repeat the program and use it as a foundational fitness routine to adjust weights as you grow stronger.

Pickleball Training

There’s also a new conditioning program for pickleball, perfect for fans of the sport who want to prepare their bodies to improve their form and game. The Strength, Endurance, and Agility for Pickleball program features professional pickleball champion Catherine Parenteau. There’s a mix of exercises inspired by Parenteau’s own training regimen, all designed to help you feel confident and perform your best on the court.

Yoga Program

Apple Fitness+ Yoga

Additionally, you’ll find a new workshop-style yoga program that helps you improve popular peak poses. Yoga Peak Poses includes sessions that each spotlight a single peak pose, including Dancer, Twisted Hand to Big Toe, and Crow. You get focused time and instruction to build confidence and skill. For each pose, there is a 10-minute prep flow to warm you up for the corresponding 10-minute practice session.

Introduction to Breath Meditation

Apple Fitness+ Breath Meditation

The breath meditation program supports managing stress, boosting energy, and enhancing focus. It teaches easy-to-follow techniques and you can choose from five 10-minute meditations like belly, box, and ocean breathing to relax, recharge, or refocus. Additionally, Breath is now a theme within Fitness+, bringing the total to 12 unique meditation themes, including Calm, Sleep, and Sound.

Artist Spotlight

Apple Fitness+ Artist Spotlight

The Artist Spotlight series features more big stars, including Janet Jackson (starting January 13), Coldplay (January 20), Bruno Mars (January 27), and Kendrick Lamar (February 3), so you can work out to the music of your favourite artists. Each playlist is crafted to fuel workouts across different types of training, from Cycling and HIIT to Strength and Dance, adding a new level of energy to every move.

Time to Walk

Apple Fitness+ Time to Walk

There are also new Time to Walk episodes, providing enlightening and calming chats while you go for a walk, with Adam Scott, Rita Ora, Daddy Yankee, Tiffany Haddish, Steve Aoki, Lana Condor, and Maddie Ziegler. Like others, they walk and talk along with you as they share stories, photos, and songs. New episodes begin January 13.

Strava Collaboration

Apple Fitness+ Strava

Apple Fitness+ is collaborating with Strava to bring a new integration to the Strava app experience, along with a special Fitness+ trial offer for Strava subscribers. Celebrated athletes from the Strava community will also appear as guests in workouts.

With the enhanced integration, when members share a Fitness+ workout to Strava, the Strava app will now display rich details including the episode image, episode number, music genre, trainer name, and metrics to track your fitness journey and share you’re your community on Strava. New and existing Strava subscribers can also redeem up to three months of Fitness+ at no cost and take advantage of the library of 4K Ultra High Definition fitness and wellness content and over 6,500 workouts and meditations across 12 workout types. Additionally, celebrated athletes from the Strava community will join the Fitness+ trainer team as special guests in workouts throughout the year.

Apple Watch Series 10

To kick off the new year, Apple Watch users can earn a limited-edition award when they close all three Activity rings for seven days in a row in January. Check out my review of the Apple Watch Series 10.

Most of the new content, unless otherwise noted, will be available starting Monday, January 6 on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, and for use with Apple Watch so you can enjoy real-time metrics to track progress while you engage in these workouts.
