Planck Studio

CES 2026: Planck’s New Ultra-Small SSDs are for Content Creators

At CES, ShiftCam is releasing two new addition to the Planck SSD lineup: the Planck Essential and Planck Studio. These both build on the original Planck Creator SSD, which launched at last year’s CES, which affords Pro-Res 4K/120 recording, creating a full product ecosystem.

Planck Essential

Planck Essential

Designed for everyday creators, students, travelers, and anyone who needs instant, portable mobile storage, Planck Essential is the smallest SSD in the lineup. Weighing only 5 grams and measuring 14 x 23 x 5.9mm, it delivers read/write speeds up to 300MB/s in a compact, plug-and-play USB-C form factor.

Available in 256GB and 512GB, Planck Essential allows you to offload photos, videos, and files directly from any USB-C smartphone. There’s no setup required, so it’s simple to use as well. It’s available now for US$69 for the 256GB version and US$99 for the 512GB version.

Planck Studio

Planck Studio

Set for availability in March 2026 for US$399 for the 4TB version and US$599 for the 8TB, the Planck Studio SSD is ShiftCam’s most advanced, professional-grade storage solution to date. Equipped with USB4 technology and blistering speeds up to 3700MB/s, Studio is built for production teams, high-volume shooters, and creators working across multiple devices, from smartphones and laptops to cinema cameras and gaming consoles. The large storage capacities make it ideal for creators handling large project files, multi-day shoots, or archive-level media libraries. It also introduces Find My (Apple/Google) integration to ensure creators can locate their drive instantly on set, on location, or on the move.

A key component of the Planck ecosystem, PlanckBank is a compact USB-C hub that gives creators the flexibility to expand their mobile workflow. It supports dual Planck SSD connectivity, offers 4K/60Hz HDMI output for real-time monitoring, and delivers up to 140W PD pass-through charging to keep devices powered during long shoots. With USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports providing speeds up to 10Gbps (1050MB/s), PlanckBank ensures fast transfers and smooth, efficient production whether on set or on the go.

Planck Creator

ShiftCam Planck

Launched last year and available for US$149 for the 1TB version and US$199 for the 2TB, the Planck Creator offers sustained write speeds up to 1050MB/s to support demanding formats including 4K/120 ProRes, ProRes LOG, and RAW. Its thermal-optimized design ensures no dropped frames and uninterrupted long-form recording, even in extreme workflows. It’s suitable for creators who shoot cinematic content on smartphones and hybrid cameras.
