Garmin has introduced the latest in its vivoactive line of smartwatches. The vivoactive 5 GPS smartwatch has a bright AMOLED screen, offers on-wrist coaching, personalized health insights, detailed sleep stats, and more.
The Garmin vívoactive 5 offers up to 11 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and around-the-clock health metrics like stress, Body Battery, and sleep with personalized sleep coaching and nap detection.

The bright AMOLED display makes it easier to read health and fitness data, smart notifications, and more, says Garmin. Along with sleep tracking is a sleep score and personalized coaching to help you better understand how much sleep you should be getting and to keep track of sleep stages as well as naps and other key metrics like Pulse OX and heart rate variability.
You can start the day with a morning report that provides an overview of the previous night’s sleep and recovery, heart rate variability status, and weather data when the watch is paired with a compatible smartphone. You can automatically track or log naps to see how they may benefit the body and the target time and duration they should be.
Monitor Body Battery energy levels throughout the day to find the best times for activity and rest. These also tie in to sleep and other metrics, with personal insights on how sleep, naps, daily activities, and high stress specifically impact energy levels. There are also guided meditations to help you reduce stress and anxiety. Choose between two font sizes to view smart notifications, workout data, and more.
Wheelchair mode lets users track daily pushes and receive weight shift alerts plus wheelchair-specific sports apps and workouts. In creating these new features, the algorithms of some existing features were modified to enhance the meaningfulness of key insights for wheelchair users.
There are more than 30 pre-loaded GPS and indoor sports apps, including walking and running, rowing, pickleball, activities for wheelchair users, and more. You can also create your own step-by-step workouts from more than 1,600 exercises in the Garmin Connect app and send them directly to the watch. In addition to keeping tabs on daily steps and calories burned, vívoactive 5 can track moderate and vigorous intensity minutes, VO2 max, and more.
Day or night, vívoactive 5 tracks heart rate, respiration, Pulse Ox, stress, and more. While sleeping, it can monitor heart rate variability to help provide a deeper understanding of overall health. Women can also track their menstrual cycle and pregnancy and receive exercise and nutrition guidance.
In terms of staying connected, you can receive text messages, e-mails, and alerts right from the wrist when paired with a compatible smartphone. Those with a compatible Android smartphone can also respond to texts using the on-watch keyboard and view photos directly from the watch screen. Safety and tracking features help provide peace of mind by sending a message with your live location (when available) to chosen emergency contacts if you feel unsafe or if an incident is detected.
