Microsoft has made a slew of announcements, including launching the new Surface Laptop Go, updating the Surface Pro X, and introducing a series of accessories to complement them.
The Surface Laptop Go is a smaller and more affordable version of the Surface laptop, designed for students, remote workers, or others who need a compact device. Starting at $760 in Canada, it is the lightest and most affordable Surface laptop to date boasting a 12.4″ PixelSense touchscreen display, large precision trackpad, and full-size keyboard with 1.3mm key travel. It can run for up to 13 hours per charge and includes Fast Charging.
The sleek, streamlined design comes in three durable and lightweight metal finishes: Ice Blue, Sandstone and Platinum. Select models have a Fingerprint Power Button with One Touch sign-in through Windows Hello. One Touch sign-in also provides fast, secured access to OneDrive Personal Vault files and more.
Surface Laptop Go has a built-in 720p HD camera and Studio Mics, Omnisonic speakers, and Dolby Audio. For connectivity, there are both USB A and USB C ports, an audio jack, and the Surface connector.
Meanwhile, the new Surface Pro X configurations introduce the second generation of the company’s custom Microsoft SQ 2 chip, building on the innovation of the Microsoft SQ 1 and delivering more multitasking power.
Combined with more memory and storage, the new configuration starts at $1,349 and is now available in a new Platinum finish in addition to Matte Black. There are also three new colour options for the Signature Keyboard: Platinum, Ice Blue, and Poppy Red. It still features the same built-in storage and wireless charging for the Surface Slim Pen.
Complementing these two new computers are a variety of Microsoft accessories that can be used with these devices as well as others.
The Microsoft Designer Compact Keyboard is a slim, narrow keyboard optimized for modern productivity with Bluetooth. With a three-year battery life and two colour options, it is priced at $90 in Canada.
The Microsoft Number Pad ($40) is a slim and modern number pad with Bluetooth wireless, while the Microsoft 4K Wireless Display Adapter ($90) offers the easiest way to project your Windows PC on the big screen, supporting 4K resolution. The Microsoft Bluetooth Ergonomic Mouse ($70) has a soft thumb rest and two customizable designs and employs a light and durable design in several colour options.
The new Surface Laptop Go and new Surface Pro X configurations are available for pre-order in select markets and will be available for purchase starting October 13.
