Go to Seneca? You Can Now Add Your Virtual OneCard to Apple Wallet

Seneca Polytechnic, a post-secondary institution in Toronto, has announced that its students and staff can now add Seneca’s Virtual OneCard to Apple Wallet on both compatible iPhones and Apple Watches.

Seneca joins York University and Toronto Metropolitan University as the only other educational institutions in the city to offer virtual campus ID through Apple Wallet.

OneCard is the official photo identification (ID) card at Seneca, affording students and staff access to many of the on-campus facilities and services, including dining, photocopying and printing in the Seneca Libraries, entry to the Campus Shuttle, and more. OneCard is also used for purchases at the Evolutions Spa and The Boutique.

To set up OneCard in Apple Wallet, open the Seneca OneCard app on the iPhone or Apple Watch. Make sure it’s updated to the latest version. Open the side menu and select “Add to Apple Wallet.” If you have Express Mode on, you won’t even need to unlock your iPhone or Apple Watch to use OneCard: just tape the device or the reader to unlock. Express Mode can be set up in the Settings for Wallet and Watch.

Apple Wallet ensures privacy and security of the information in your OneCard, as with other credit, debit, and loyalty cards you can save in the app along with gift cards, event tickets, boarding passes, and more. The card information is stored locally on your device, so Apple doesn’t have access to where you access.

More and more digital cards and access keys are being added to Apple Wallet in Canada. Earlier this summer, Metrolinx announced that residents within the greater Toronto area and Hamilton are now able to add PRESTO cards to Apple Wallet.
