Shopify’s POS Go Launches in Canada

Shopify announced its POS Go point-of-sale retail device in the U.S. last summer, and it’s now available for bricks-and-mortar retailers in Canada.

POS Go is a mobile POS unit that allows merchants to complete sales from virtually anywhere within the store using a built-in barcode scanner. You can also view detailed product information, customer notes, and purchase history. Merchants can also build carts in store and e-mail them to customers to complete later.

Payments are accepted via tap, swipe, and chip using the fully integrated card reader that’s built right into the unit. It connects via Wi-Fi, and Shopify Payments ensure smooth and secure transactions, says the company.

Merchants can view sales, analytics, and inventory updates via the POS Go from anywhere. If an update is made in the Shopify admin, everything automatically syncs across all devices.

“Retail is evolving quickly and merchants need flexible solutions to help them succeed,” says Arpan Podduturi, Vice President of Product at Shopify. “More than ever, brick-and-mortar retailers need technology that keeps them nimble. With POS Go, we’re empowering our merchants to deliver world-class, differentiated in-store experiences. Offline retail is all the way back, and we’re investing heavily in hardware that’s fit for the fastest-growing, most innovative retailers in the world.”
