2. Jetpac eSIM Package
I used a Jetpac eSIM last year during a trip to Japan and more recently on a trip to Spain, which saw me spending some time on a layover in Paris. Now with the option to pay in Canadian dollars, it’s super simple to set up and use. And you can choose to assign to someone else after buying.
I purchased a Europe seven-day pack with 15GB, which was more than enough to cover my four-day trip in both countries. The price? $26.50, or $3.78 per day if I were to have stayed the entire seven days, $6.62 per day for the four days I was there. I love that there’s an app you can use to check in on the status, including how much data you have left. I connected with others exclusively using data, turning off my phone line and calling family at home through FaceTime Audio while communicating via text through iMessage, WhatsApp, and Signal.
Using my phone to navigate to destinations, surf the web, reply to e-mails and Slack messages, and more, was all a breeze. I never experienced connectivity issues and the phone latched onto the network as soon as I arrived.

Choose a destination to which they often travel, like the U.S., Asia, or Europe, and get a plan that will last through their next few trips, or for an upcoming one you know has been booked. With eSIM packages available for over 150 countries and destinations, costs are ultra-cheap. Think $7 for 1GB of data over a seven-day period or a 30-day plan with 10GB for $26. For 20 areas in Asia, pricing start at $10 while coverage in 30+ areas starts at $23.
