Eve Light Switch

There’s Now a Matter Version of the Eve Light Switch

Smart home devices company Eve Systems, part of ABB, has announced a Matter version of the Eve Light Switch.

The Eve Light Switch delivers connected lighting without the need to change bulbs. It can replace either a single-pole or three-way switch and integrates seamlessly with existing frames and decors.

Matter-over-Thread technology ensures ease of use, advanced security, and access for the entire family, no matter if they use an iPhone, Android device, or interact vocally with Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant.

Thanks to the home hub’s remote access and automation options, it can even be controlled remotely, linked to other devices as part of scenes, controlled by a motion sensor such as Eve Motion, based on your presence or the day and time via schedules. On-device schedules created in the Eve app for iPhone and iPad put lights on autopilot, independently from the availability of the smartphone, home hub, or internet connection.

With iOS 18 and an iPhone 15 Pro (and later), Eve Light Switch can be added and controlled without a home hub. Thanks to the Eve app, key functionality like on-device schedules is still available, allowing you to automate lighting to suit your daily routine. For more advanced functionality like remote access and automations, add a home hub at any time.

The Eve Light Switch requires iOS/iPadOS 18 (or later), Android 8.1 (or later), a Matter controller, Thread Border Router (find compatible devices on evehome.com/hub). It also needs a neutral wire and, as noted, replaces a single-pole or three-way switch. It’s only for use with copper or copper-clad wire in dry, indoor locations.

The Eve Light Switch comes with the switch, wall plate, and mounting material, and sells for US$49.95. A free Matter firmware upgrade for the third generation of Eve Light Switch can be installed via the Eve app.
