The new Health Guardian features announced with the launch of the Google Pixel Watch 5 have officially arrived for that model, as well as the Pixel Watch 3 and 4. These include blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends, and sleep breathing quality metrics.
Available in the Google Health app, Health Guardian features are proactive health and safety tools that are designed to help you better understand long-term health patterns and track subtle physiological changes over time.

The data is backed by clinical research, says Google, and works continuously in the background to track changes over time. There’s also a new Breathing Emergency Detection feature that works with the Pixel Watch 4 (see my Pixel Watch 4 review) and Pixel Watch 5 in select European countries. With this feature, the Watch will call emergency services automatically if you experience a severe drop in blood oxygen.
Starting today, owners of compatible devices will begin seeing these new metrics populate within the Google Health app, with the first trend reports arriving in early October.
The new Health Guardian tools are available for free for Pixel Watch users, and those with a Fitbit Air will be able to access them with a Google Health Premium paid subscription later this year.
