iRobot Roomba j7+ Combo

iRobot Introduces its First Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo Device, the Roomba Combo j7+

iRobot offers both robot vacuums and a robot mop, but the Roomba Combo j7+ is the first from the brand that can both wet mop and dry vacuum at the same time, from a single unit.

The 2-in-1 robot features iRobot OS 5.0 that can receive intelligence updates as they are released. The two fully retracting, durable, metal mop arms will automatically raise when the vacuum detects rugs or carpets. The unit vacuums rugs and carpets first then vacuums and mops hard floors concurrently so it can tackle an area in a single job. It uses advanced sensors to detect different floor types. When carpeting or rugs are detected, the retractable mop arm will lift the wet pad to the top of the robot, similarly to the way a car’s convertible roof raises.

Using iRobot OS and the robot’s PrecisionVision Navigation system, the Roomba Combo j7+, like the standard iRobot Roomba j7+, recognizes more than 80 common objects, from socks to cables and cords, dog bowls, pet toys, backpacks, shoes, and even solid pet waste, and will navigate around these obstructions. This also includes kitty litter boxes, toilet bowls, dishwashers, and more.

Pair the robot with your voice assistant and tell it to clean specific rooms or around specific objects in your home. The Roomba Combo j7+ understands approximately 600 voice commands and you can customize cleaning jobs in the iRobot Home app, choosing which rooms should be vacuumed and mopped or vacuumed only. You can also adjust the amount of cleaning solution you want the mop to dispense.

When using the Roomba Combo j7+, it senses when a mop pad is attached and the mopping solution tank is full, then goes into mopping mode automatically: the mop arm is already attached and ready to go. For vacuuming, it also comes with the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal system for emptying into a larger bag you only need to remove and replace every few months, or even less frequently, depending on how often you vacuum.

iRobot OS will also come with new features, including expanded object recognition for more cleaning on command, navigation of every floor’s obstacle course, and a continued focus on delivering more pet features. The iRobot OS visual vocabulary is expanding with new Clean Zone recommendations, including previously announced ones like couches, tables, counters, and holiday trees. Roomba models with Imprint Smart Mapping and the Braava jet m6 robot mop can now automatically detect and proactively recommend Clean Zones around dishwashers, toilets, ovens/stoves, litter boxes and pet bowls. You can customize your Smart Map by designating precision Clean Zones. Using Alexa or Google Assistant-enabled devices, you can also instruct the robot to clean these zones using voice commands like “Alexa, tell Braava jet m6 to mop around the toilet.”

You can also skip a room during a cleaning routine now if you need to avoid interruptions in the baby’s nursery, for example, while they’re having a nap or in your home office while you’re on a video call. Simply press the Skip button in the iRobot Home app or use your voice with Alexa to skip the room or zone the robot is currently in and move on to the next one.

Additionally, iOS users can now create Siri Shortcuts for directed room cleaning and saved “favourites” from the iRobot Home App. Use your voice to ask Siri to clean areas like the living room or dining room. Or start a cleaning job using your voice from your saved favourites in the iRobot Home App. For example, say, “Hey Siri, clean after dinner,” and your Roomba or Braava jet m6 will clean the rooms you designated as that favourite.
